Hello All,

I know this is not required for Dolphin to run GameCube Games, but I want to dump the GameCube's ipl.bin so that I can have the boot screen when I start games.

I've read somewhere that this is possible using a memory card and a softmodded Wii but I've had failure in getting this to work.

I've tried:
  • Dumping using gc-ipl-dumper and swiss from a booted memory card (this part seems to work)
  • Extracting the dump from the memory card from my Wii using GCMM (this part seems to corrupt the ipl.bin file)
  • Exporting my memory card as a .raw file to try and edit it that way (also seems to fail)

I don't know how else I can get the BIOS dumped without paying extra money for an SDGecko which I can't do ATM. Can anyone help me get the ipl.bin dumped the way I'm trying to?

Thanks in advance!

Just to clarify, are you running gc-ipl-dumper on a GameCube or on a Wii? You have to use a GameCube in order for it to work.

I'm running both gc-ipl-dumper and swiss on a GameCube, yes (separately). I wouldn't have a BIOS which seems to work otherwise.

To clarify, I think I need to copy the ipl.bin file off of the Memory Card Similar to how SDGecko does, but on Wii. My ipl.bin appears to corrupt at the GCMM stage. I'm not sure how I would do that though.

Found out what the issue is with the help of the Swiss developer for anyone who happens to stumble across this thread.

Swiss's IPL.bin dump has a much larger header than you'd expect. Scroll down a bunch in a hex editor and you'll eventually see the BIOS.
