I currently have the following system.

Q6600 OC to 3.51
8 GB memory
2 GTX 275 1792 in SLI
EVGA 780i SLI MB

No matter what settings I use, I have problems with sound clipping ie. Xenoblade, or low frame rate in Super Mario Galaxy 2 despite having decent FPS. Which I find really odd. It doesn;t seems to matter what resolution I play at either which I find interesting as well. Still the same problems.

I have tried various things and nothing seems to work. Is my system just not up to par? I am about to upgrade to LGA 2011, but as it is not quite out yet I still try messing with what I have. I just bought two GTX 580 Classifieds, but have not received them. From what I gather it your CPU is really makes the most difference and this will not help at all?

Anyone else having more success with their Q6600s?

Thanks for the help.

Regarding Xenoblade, have you tried *searching* yet?

Yeah I have for sure. I am also running Windows 7 Enterprise x64. I have tried numerous builds. I am currently running 3.0.

I know it isn;t mkuch to go on. I could go into more details, but it just seems no matter what settings I use it doesn't matter at all. So I'm guessing it is a CPU bottleneck more than anything else.

Sound clipping in xenoblade is a normal issue from what I hear (I don't actually have the game). Slowdowns in super mario galaxy 2 are normal for every cpu except overclocked sandy bridge cpus.

Use build with xenoblade patch, try changing to xaudio2.
