I did everything in the wiki for the linux setup using the gamecube controller adapter, but it's still not recognizing the adapter and says insufficient permissions. As far as I know I followed the guide to a T and somehow it still doesn't work. I am not sure what I am doing wrong at all. Screenshots are provided to show what I did.

I can't see your attachments, but what I do is this:
Create a file called "51-gcadapter.rules" containing the following:

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0337", MODE="0666"

Copy the file into the directory:
/etc/udev/rules.d/
(You will need to use sudo to copy it there.)

Reloading the udev rules with "sudo udevadm control --reload-rules" doesn't work for me so I reboot instead. Sometimes I have to unplug the USB cable and reinsert it.

I will try to reboot after doing that and see what happens. Hopefully it works then.
