Thanks for the advice! Aren't those rams and GPU a little bit overkill? I can buy an already built PC but it only has 8 GB ram and a GTX 670.

Not at all ,
like I said GTX 770 cost the same money as GTX 670 and much faster . Why the hell would you pay the same money for a weaker GPU ? Not mention OEM PCs are overpriced trash . You will get rip-off if you buy PC instead of building one by yourself
For Example : I can build a PC for 700-800$ but I will sell it to you for 1200$ (maybe 1000$ after debate *Insert my devil laugh here* ) . Would you like to buy one ?
GSkill Ripjaw X series is cheap and fast ....

From A to Z : I go all out 1182$ Since you didn't tell me your budget

i5 4670k (200$)
EVGA ACX Cooling GTX 770 (410$)
Seasonic S12II 620W 80 PLus Bronze Japanese Capacitors (70$)
Latest Intel SSD 335 80GB (105$) (Remove this if you don't want to buy SSD)
Asrock Z87 Pro 4 Micro ATX (115$ Or Asrock Z87 Extreme 4
GSkill Ripjaw X Series 2x4GB(65$)
WD Green 1.5TB 7200rpm (80$)
Best bang for buck Rosewill BlackHawk case (90$) - Newegg Brand
Best bang for buck - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (37$)
Arctic MX-4 (10$)

I got your point but I'm not a computer specialist and I can't imagine me building a PC.

Here's the rig I can get for 1169 Euro (since in the computer world 1 Euro = 1 Dollar, the conversion is not hard):

Intel Core i5-4670K - Quad Core (3.4 GHz, Turbo 3.8 GHz)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
MSI Z87-G45
Asus GTX670-DC2-2GD5 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2 Go
G.Skill XL Series RipJaws X Series 8 Go (kit 2x 4 Go) DDR3-SDRAM PC12800 CL9
Seagate 7200.14 - 2 To 7200 RPM 2 Mo Serial ATA III
Corsair Carbide 300R
Microsoft Windows 7 64 bits

Thanks a lot for the suggestion though, I'll have a look at the parts you suggest on European websites.

I have an old PC bought in 2007 so it's time for an upgrade since I want to play games with PCSX2 and Dolphin. The problem is that I don't know what CPU to choose. I have waited until now since I thought taking the last one (Haswell) would be a good idea, but judging from what I read in this topic, it looks like a 3570K would be a better a choice since it overclocks higher?
Can you confirm this so I don't waste more money than I should or can I still go with Haswell?

Thanks!
have you seen this?just read the whole page and see how good haswell is

Awesome read!

Two last questions:

- can I still go with the 4670k or does the 4770k have something special that makes Dolphin running even better?
- is there a difference between Windows 7 and 8 as far as Dolphin is concerned?

I buy this PC only for emulators (not interested in PC games) so I don't want to make a mistake.

i7 has Hyperthreading (4 cores 8 threads) , i5 does not have HT (4 cores 4 threads) . Dolphin doesn't care about HT ...
i7 has higher L3 cache 8MB vs i5 L3 cache 6MB
i7 has higher stock and turbo speed (100MHz : 3.5/3.9GHz vs 3.4/3.8GHz)
Overall , i7 is only a bit faster than i5 (by a hair if you know what I mean) . Since you will OC i5 anyway , so i7 doesn't matter

How many MHz do you want to overclock ?
An i7 4770k can be overclocked to 4.6GHz (completely stable) with only 1.2Vcore , the same Vcore apply to i5 3570k @ 4.5GHz
For i5 3570k , Anything higher than 4.5GHz is not recommended .
As for i5 4670k , it doesn't have HyperThreading . So it will run cooler than i7 4770k -> i5 = Better Overclocking
Just buy Asrock Z87 Pro 4 which is dirt cheap and reliable (you can buy Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 if you want to) + i5 4670k + PSU : Seasonic S12II 520W 80plus bronze Japanese Caps (Buy 620W version if you want more head room for SLI) + Gigabyte/EVGA GTX 770 (which is abit faster than GTX 680 and cost the same as GTX 670) + 4x4GB Gskill Ripjaws X Series 1600MHz
Was literally about to order my PC from Origin before I read this. Sorry for being offtopic but I need to ask:
Would the coolness(only reason I dismissed Haswell first!) be about the same as i5-3570k or only slightly hotter? And the performance? I am upgrading for a laptiop which has an i7 2670QM if you need to know.
And from the thread link posted above, it seems Haswell is a dream for emulation, good lord this sounds amazing all of a sudden D: Does PCSX2 come into that equation as well?!
Again, forgive me for offtopic :V

Just go with the 4670K and don't care about the details. It'll run everything (including Dolphin, PCSX2, bsnes, and whatever PC gamers play these days) flawlessly and it'll probably run at the same temps as a 3570K.

"Flawlessly"? No. Very well? Yes. It does seem to yield a nice speedup over ivy bridge in both dolphin and pcsx2.
