anyone running an i3 6320? I was curious how well it runs Dolphin @ stock speeds and how high the IR can go on its iGpu.

Since Dolphin can change the console's CPU clock, is it possible to hack the Wii's BIOS to allow overclocking? Some games that use a lot of fancy visuals like Brawl when a lot is going on onscreen experience a moderate slowdown, which is the reason I got Dolphin in the first place. Doesn't seem like the Wii's Broadway chip would mind a few extra volts and MHz, it might benefit from running hot at 850+ MHz with some custom cooling. Also, what chips, specifically 90nm chips, are compatible with the Wii? The Hollywood ATI chip in the Wii is incredible weak compared to most other consoles, and Dolphin is starting to replace my Wii anyway at this point, so I don't mind hacking up my Wii. Also, why has the Wii never gotten DVD support?

Why would any other cpu be compatible with the wii? That makes no sense.
The wii does not support DVDs because that would require paying royalties and nintendo didn't see the need for it. Their data suggests (and so does common sense) that their customers overwhelmingly already have other devices hooked up to their TV that can play DVDs. Since the hardware is fully capable of it all you need to do is hack your wii and install video player software via homebrew. As far as I know it's safe to assume that the Wii does not have a programmable PLL system. So it's doubtful that it could be overclocked.

Because the Wii uses a RISC processor, and I've swapped mobile phone processors more than once. I had a Galaxy S4 that I yanked the SoC out and put it inside an HTC Desire. It's highly likely that there is one or more other Nintendo console or other console that has a compatible processor. AFAIK the PPC750CL is the same as the Wii's proc but has a maximum clock of a gigahert with scaling down to 400mhz. 02-27-2016, 09:40 PM
I don't think it'll work, games don't expect the Wii CPU clock rate to be modified. Dolphin doesn't allow pure overclocking. Actually, it only allows more CPU instructions. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-vw...ng-on-wiiu

And what about the graphics chip? I'm sure I could tweak the operating core to handle a new CPU governor or two. A Wii is not the same as a mobile phone. I don't think you're going to get anywhere with this.

Don't think the paired singles instructions made it onto any other IBM CPU so you would get a hardware exception.
