....and ordered. Picked the cheapest shop for the 6700K but it wasn't in stock, so I'll probably have it next week monday or so.

For Dolphin it's a good upgrade I guess I'm waiting for Zen though. 08-06-2015, 09:14 AM

Anti-Ultimate Wrote:Why would you want to upgrade from a Sandy Bridge CPU to Skylake? Because it's faster? 25% increase in general IPC. 60% in dolphin. Greater energy efficiency and better IGP too. Masterotaku Wrote:I want at least a 30% or 40% single core performance increase from my 4670k Ahahahaha. Give up now. That won't happen until at least 2019 and that's if we're extremely generous with the current predicted curve. Masterotaku Wrote:Why is it with every generation, we see Dolphin performance increase but there are none in games, even when those are cpu bottlenecked Because: 1. Very few games (actually I don't know of any but I assume they exist) are significantly bottlenecked by cpus that are this fast 2. Cpu load in games is not constant. Most of the time it's low but occasionally certain game events trigger a sudden spike. For example something blowing up and forcing the physics engine to actually do something. As a result if you have a cpu that's twice as fast the framerate dips caused by these spikes in usage might be half as bad (dips from 60 down to 40 instead of 60 down to 20 for example) but the end result will be only a few percent increase in AVERAGE fps since these spikes don't account for the majority of time. Therefore a cpu that's only 10% faster will likely only produce a 1% increase in average fps at best. But it may still be worth purchasing because it helps keep the framerate stable. cyrax33 Wrote:Because higher performance = accuracy? Which then comes optimizations afterwards. That has nothing to do with this and as a result makes no sense.

Not bad at all, especially for when a mobile chip arrives where clocks are lower. I will probably be able to get a laptop that will have better performance in dolphin than my currently overclocked desktop has. 08-06-2015, 07:07 PM
oh, look, another new thing I can't buy because I don't have money
yay for rich people though
