I am from germany too. I just bought a Schenker/XMG Notebook and so far it is the best Notebook I have ever had. It is the XMG P505. The CPU fan seemed a little bit too loud to me and I asked if it could be broken. Without further questions, they offered to send me a new fan with instructions how to switch it out or send the whole thing in. I chose to replace it myself and now its all good. They also allow and recommend to open the Laptop for cleaning. Everything is easy to reach. They are definitely not a no-name, no-service brand. They just use the Clevo and Gigabyte barebones.
I was also looking at the A505 but Schenker had a promotional event with the female football worldcup (Germany scored 10:0 -> 13% rebate). I decieded to get the beefier model. So I can fully recommend Schenker/XMG and the models listed above. Quote:Alright, my "I know everything better but I don't" friend thinks Schenker is a non-name brand and I should avoid them. What doNot so many people know about BTO (build to order) laptop . Here in Japan , "mouse computer" make the best gaming notebook "Gtune" with FHD IGZO display but most Japanese people don't know . All they know is Toshiba which i hate Laptop: (Show Spoiler)

Alright, I'll either get a Lenovo Y50-70 or a XMG A505/705. Why are the later ones more expensive than the Lenovo?

The Y50-70 with the 860m had a really bad display, but it looks like they fixed that with the 960m models. The Y50 only has one storage port (no m.2 or mSATA) and no disk drive. If you dont need any of those, it is the better deal IMO. I dont know anything about lenovos service or build quality. Notebookcheck.com might give you some hints.

Apparently my Dad's decided that he actually doesn't just need to run office applications on his proposed new system, but also CPU-hungry (with some support for CUDA and OpenCL) microscopal imaging software, so a cheap atom-powered tablet is not actually a viable option. While it would have been nice for him to tell me this originally, at least I know now. This probably puts his requirements closer to what people here are likely to know about, though.

My friend just got a y50, and it has dual heat sinks, which is good for gaming.
Yeah it's limited to just the hard drive and has no dvd drive, but it's got a pretty good build and is fairly light and portable. I also like it, but the touchpad is the combined style, so the buttons are a part of the trackpad. 06-27-2015, 03:46 AM
