I returned 240GB Intel 530 SSD and bought Toshiba Q Series Pro instead
It seems to be a better value than Samsung 840 Evo
Intel SSD is very durable but it's slow

Next question:

My brother's G3258 has arrived. Inspecting the stock cooler shows Intel have pre-applied their TIM paste. I have MX-4, though, which should perform better. However, I don't actually have any isopropyl alcohol (except some spray lubricant or cleaner or something with some in, and it's not got much of it and leaves sticky residue when it dries).

Do I:

a) Give up and use the stock TIM?

b) Try and remove as much stock TIM as possible using mechanical methods but no chemicals, then use MX-4?

c) Use whatever chemicals seemed to work best the one time I redid the cooler on a really old GPU, and then try to clean up the residue, then MX-4?

d) Send my mother out to try and buy some.

It's important to note that I'm going to have to go to uni in a day or so, so this machine needs to be working preferably by the end of the day, and the end of the day is in under 12 hours away, so

Going to keep using the stock cooler?  I'd leave it then as it should work just fine.

Too late - I found some lens cleaner that was almost entirely isopropyl and ethyl alcohol with something else that evaporated, and used that, and it worked fine.

My MSI GTX 560 Twin FrozR II gpu fan is making a highly annoying grinding noise every time i start my pc, sometimes it stops after a while and sometimes it needs a couple of kicks to stop. It is probably out of warranty (3 years have passed since purchase) and i have a dilemma on what to do, finding a replacement and paying for installation will probably cost me anywhere from 50 to 80 euros, or paying even more and get a new card altogether something that is less trouble and more assuring? It is also a fluid period financially here for purchases now, so i will probably bear with it for as much as i can for now and postpone my decision to a later date. Searching online i found that a lot of other people have the same problem with this specific fan in msi cards.

G3258+stock cooler=does not compute
The only thing that CPU has going for it is you can OC the bejesus out of it and even then its only marginally faster than an i3.

The stock cooler was designed with the i5 and i7 model CPUs in mind, which have a way higher TDP than the G3258 can ever reach when being overclocked.

In general computer usage and some PC games, the G3258 performs similar to an i3. But in Dolphin it performs only slightly less than the i5-4690K/i7-4790K at the same speeds.

Anybody got any favorite linux server distros that I should try out? I'm setting up a media server soon. I'll likely post about it here sometime next week or the week after.
