You're missing the point anyway - imitating vanilla, and only fixing things that could be described as broken, rather than replacing things just for prettiness can be done at 4K@60 with cheaper hardware than you suggested, and so isn't really a good metric for the power of that GPU. Playing it in the way it (in my opinion) 'should' be played can't really be done at 1080@60 on that GPU, though, let alone 4k, so it's also a bad thing to mention for that reason.

On an unrelated topic, is there any reason why it'd be a bad idea for my 12-year-old brother to order this tomorrow to replace his 2.2 GHz Pentium E2200 (and associated Dell stuff in the same box)?

No GPU just yet, as the 960's supposed to be a similar price in the UK to what the 750 Ti's currently at.

Beware Dell cases, as they use the BTX standard for motherboards. Check your case. When looking at the front of the computer, if you open the right side and the board is on the left, it's a BTX board. If the case opens on the left and the board is on the right, then it's ATX.

It's an ATX. I've meddled with an old Dell (technically only a year older than this one) that was BTX, which was a strange experience, but that won't be happening this time. We might actually get a new case, too, as we dismantled an important bit of the spare one, and kind of need the current system to function for a while after its official decommissioning.

That's good. I have an Inspiron 9200 that I can't upgrade farther than my Q6600 because it's a BTX board.

It *can* be done on that GPU. 1080P is no problem on that GPU as it's easily better then your GTX 770. It gets 15FPS more in minimums and 13FPS more in averages and it costs less.

Anyone remember how when I bought my laptop at the same time I got a SATA <-> USB 3 converter, but although it worked fine on the laptop (including being bootable), it didn't on my desktop (described in my sig) with Windows moaning that it couldn't find any drivers, even after trying to repair in device manager? Well I've just tried plugging in a USB 3 pendrive, and that's having the exact same issue. Again, I know this pendrive works fine on multiple other computers, and have even used an identical one on this one too in the past. I then tried another USB drive that'd never been used with this machine, and it too had the same problem.

Basically, it seems that any USB drives first used after a certain (unknown) point in time aren't assigned drivers by Windows. I've tried googling this, but can't seem to find anyone with the exact same issue. Anyone know of a fix, or something to google that won't just leave me being told to try things I already have, or even other places to look for causal problems?

device manager - uninstall, what happens? (don't delete driver, as that will remove system files)

I have USB issues to.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, which didn't change much, as it still couldn't find a driver.

I updated my USB 3 drivers in a bout of pre-overclock motherboard-related updates last night, and that hasn't helped.

I'd really rather avoid the nuclear option at this stage, as there'd be a lot of stuff to reinstall.
