What voltage to lower temps near what they were running at stock? I'm using a Core2Duo E7500 overclocked to 3.66 Ghz with a Gigabyte G41MT-S2PT motherboard.

Not possible. If you're overclocking there is going to be some level of temperature increase. Especially with an overclock that high. What do you have the vcore and vfsb at now?

Well it's about time heh. Tongue

Disregarding the other bits you quoted due to the fact if I get a new board it's going to be for an upgrade to Haswell. It may be a brief while before I can get enough to buy the hardware I need but what I'm using is fine for the time being, after all the only game exhibiting abnormal performance is TF2. All my other games are running fine without a hitch and all I'm sacrificing is the extra gfx card and 2GB ram, the weaker processor means playing most games in Dolphin is not feasible for the time being but that is the least of concerns at the present moment.

As for vcore it's set to auto, I could lower it a bit therefore reduce temps slightly but I am trying to figure out what voltage to set it to that won't affect cpu performance and stability.

Yes never use auto. It always sets it way too high. I would highly advise tweaking/testing your OC in small increments to optimize it as much as you can since your optimal parameters will vary heavily depending on chipset, motherboard, quality of the cpu die, etc. Instead of using somebody else's parameters which might have worked fine for their system but may not necessarily work fine on yours. I would say 1.3 vcore would probably work well in your case. So use that as a starting point. Don't forget to tweak the fsb voltage and memory clock/voltage too.

You should have said that from the beginning. That would have saved me some time. If that's the case then it's clearly not a hardware issue.

Yes in general it wan't a hardware issue, clearly that is a given after playing other games with no issues. TF2 is just very un-optimized and doesn't cope well with modern hardware or supports multi-threading very well. However the instability and whatever other issues I was experiencing with the old motherboard might have been negatively impacting performance in some way. Everything seems to run smoother now although I had to re-install Windows due to files becoming corrupted somehow. My Windows install became corrupted partly due to using a partition tool and partly due to terminating a .Net optimization process and royally screwed up my install and was blue screening on the Windows boot logo. Someone did mention that my poor internet connection could be causing performance issues and decreased fps and it seems possible that could be the whole reason behind my poor performance. I don't have any way to test if that is true due to not having access to anything else out here to test TF2 performance issues related to my internet connection.

For some reason now I am experiencing stuttering or lag that seems worse that before. Often I am stuttering every time either I shoot at someone or they shoot at me and end up dying because I can't move since I am stuck. These stutter happen in normal game play along with worse rubber-banding. I am looking into solutions but I'm not sure if it's my hardware or the recent update since I didn't have the system up and running with the new motherboard until after the update.

I see articles suggesting to enable Hpet in bios and/or in Windows but when I do my system becomes really sluggish and unresponsive.

If TF2 is behaving abnormally, you're not the only one. Turn the graphics up all of the way. As in, Chris's "movie" config. It doesn't sound like it'd help, but trust me, it does. TF2 is weird, and, on better hardware, performs worse the lower you set the graphics.

I think I tried that once and it didn't help much but maybe I didn't use the correct config. I edited my above post to say the blame for poor performance might be my poor 3G internet connection or at least that is what someone told me on Spuf.

Well, look at your FPS.

I have the perfect computer to say, well, if you have the graphics all the way up and you're lagging, it might be that anger hazard of a wifi card that you have in your PCI slot. Well, that's MY predicament. It might be your internet, though. Or, maybe your processor. Maps like Hightower require tons of CPU power with higher server fills [edit]on unoptimized servers[/edit]. Like, if you can play Hightower at 32/32 players at 60FPS [edit]on unoptimized servers[/edit], you can probably play Twilight Princess in Dolphin at constant full speed.

Wat. If that happens your Mobo is broken but not the wifi card. How is this even related since they don't even share the same lane?

No, just no. Tf2 isn't that horrible, infact it's playable with pretty much everything that came out in the last 5 years.

Because TF2 gets lighter on the hardware the higher you put the graphics (at a certain point) for some reason. If you have the graphics all of the way up (PAST the in-game settings), and you still lag when playing the game, then you're probably either experiencing network lag that you thought was hardware lag, or you might have a horrible CPU and should probably get a new one.

The second thing, well, I'm sort of sad that there's not some sort of exaggeration mark that I know of.
