Take my house. I overclocked it to 4.4Ghz and it runs at 1.159V and it's as cool as Santas backyard.

Seriously, this thing overclocks like hell. Let's just see if the 1.159V are stable enough to maintain the clock rate. Temps are amazing. It hasn't gone over 65°C in Prime95

Well, I said I'd post pictures soon, but better late than never. I'm very satisfied with the Gigabyte Brix. Basically does everything I wanted for an emu-console. Setting up everything to work as I envisioned it was ridiculously easy in comparison to every other device I'd tried. All I have to do is power it on, wait 10 seconds for the boot process to finish, then I can control the menu with the joystick, launch games with a single button, and jump out of any game with the push of another button.

Pre-unboxing:

This is the mess I have to deal with in the loft upstairs. Even when it's clean, it's crowded, so I really can't have anything larger than a CD/DVD drive for an ideal emu-console

Here's the Brix up close. It's pretty small. If you take 2 DS or 3DS game cases and stack them, it's roughly that same size

The menu isn't anything special, just KDE's Kickoff. Just "click" one of the icons with the joystick, and the games start going

Like I said, everything runs fine. Been playing mostly SNES and N64. I add games as I want to play them, so I'm not in a rush to dump my collection on this little guy. Runs extremely quiet and isn't hot at all. Just runs somewhere between cool and warm.

And yeah, I know, these shots are terrible :p But it gives you the right idea.

Damn. So close. I don't want to have to learn German. Or compete with your ridiculously high end education system that cranks out engineers like bunnies.

But then again the chocolate.....and the bread/cheese.....and the beer.....and the meat.....and the healthcare.....and the women. Fuck now I want a vacation.

1.159v is way too low for 4.4GHz. I have trouble believing it is stable. That low voltage is primarily why your temperatures are so low. You should be up around 1.3v.

Still cleaner than mine by a mile.

It's totally stable, however when i activate prime95 it goes up to 1.239V (because it uses AVX or something). But it is really stable. Seems I've gotten a really good chip, doesn't it?

I'm so confused. I thought we were joking about a pretend overclocked house, then suddenly it's a chip and everything makes sense. Who knows which of these things we're actually talking about?

I do. I suggest getting more sleep and less alcohol.

Then you didn't set the voltage correctly. If you manually set a max vcore in the UEFI it will not go above that value, ever. Sounds like it is still running on auto. Which makes sense since 1.239v at 4.4GHz is actually feasible on a good chip.

It's running at 1.16V until prime95 activates the AVX testes. BIOS is set to adaptive.

The point was that cleanliness doesn't matter in my case. If it's clean, the floor's still crowded. If it's a mess, the floor's still really crowded. :p

The consoles have been there for so long, they've established a sort of oligarchy on floor space. They even prohibit any newcomers from getting into the market. The Gamecube is obviously bribing some corrupt official to stay in the game, given that the Wii assumes all of it's functions. Hopefully upcoming legislation (the PS4) breaks up the cartel. And yes, I had fun with this metaphor Big Grin

I was right. That explains it. You really shouldn't do that.
