Well it looks like I may indeed need a new heatsink/fan for Haswell. The heatsinks I have right now only support LGA775/1366/1155/1156/AMD but not LGA1150. Any ideas for an excellent cooler; I am already set on the motherboard and i7 I want to purchase but need a decent cooling solution.

My 212 Evo fits my 1150, and it says it fits 1156 and 1155 (plus 775 and various AMD offerings).

There's a standard bracket for standard Intel and AMD, and a separate bracket for Xeons and E-series. They all swivel and have lots of holes, but 1156, 1155, and 1150 all use the same four.

^Bingo. Mounting hole spacing is all that matters and it's identical on LGA 1156/1155/1150. You don't need a new cooler Xtreme.

We've gone from measuring resolutions by dimensions and total pixels to just scanlines (vertical resolution). Now they're moving to horizontal resolution for no apparent reason. 1080p has a width of 1920 which is roughly 2K. 2160p has a width of 3840 (4096 in theaters) which is roughly 4K. I guess they figure one number is easier to market/brand. God I hate big business product marketing.

Just go with low voltage ram. It's an extra $10 and gives you peace of mind. Higher voltage ram will likely still work but will put more load on the chipset then it was designed for. Which could potentially reduce it's lifespan.

@NV - Well, Intel says specifically that the chipset can handle 1.5v, and the Lenovo Q190 uses DDR3 SDRAM. I'll have another look around Newegg for one that has the best ratings and see what I can find though. I've no qualms about spending $10+, so it's not a big deal. I'm not so much concerned with my system lifespan (4-6 hours of gameplay every weekend, at the max), but I don't want heat to rear its ugly head, at least not more than it needs to. I'm guessing using less power, even if it's just in the RAM, helps to some degree.

One other question, I'm looking in Newegg's Laptop Memory section. This is where I'm supposed to be looking correct? Like I said, I don't build systems, and certainly have no familiarity with mini-pcs aside from SoC ARM boards. I would assume given the size of the Gigabyte Brix that laptop memory, rather than Desktop memory, is what I'm after.

Actually, I'll have a look around Newegg right now. This one has a lot of positive reviews :

I'm not in a hurry to buy this, so I'll wait for any further feedback and probably purchase it on Wednesday (when I'm through with work for the week). Btw, I actually do have Jewish cousins :p Had them over recently in fact.

Frankly I think they purposefully obfuscate things in an attempt to make sure no one actually knows what anything means. If the customers are educated they'll be more resistant if they try to sell something that they wouldn't care about if they knew the details. Like 120hz HDTVs.
