IGP are actually the same. Kaby lake i3 cpus have higher clock rates and in the case of the 73xx a larger L3 cache (2MB vs 3MB) which increases IPC in cache heavy applications (and dolphin appears to be one of those). The i3 71xx have the same cache size as the pentiums though.

Btw , i5 7640k will have 4 cores 8 threads to counter Intel's greatest threat : AMD Ryzen . So if you're going to upgrade your rig , hold your horses
Do not buy i5 7600k (4 cores 4 threads)!
Edit: Nevermind , you need LGA 2066 platform ... :/

I know it's been a big while already since Linus Torvalds's "f**k you" message towards Nvidia. Perhaps I have not read enough, but it seems situation overall has not changed that much ever since. Not much documentation being released (so open source world cannot fully take advantage of Nvidia drivers, even though nouveau and bumblebee may be quite advanced by now), and recently read why optimus technology cannot be used for kvm qemu gpu passing-through at all (one forcibly needs *at least 2 freaking gpus!*).

Has Nvidia always kind of disliked open source world?

"Local Finnish Man upset that large company did not give away millions of dollars in proprietary code for free"

Besides Nvidia's own drivers for linux are great.

Yeah, the first thing I do on Linux is just install the proprietary drivers. They're better in pretty much every way, unless you're one of those who absolutely refuse to use anything proprietary.

I'm not one to give a crap about open vs closed source.

If the closed source drivers work better for my use case, I'm using those.

Heads up, don't recommend the GA-H81M mobo for G3258 systems anymore. Apparently Gigabyte now ships them with a firmware revision that locks the CPU multiplier.

I'm not aware of another cheap H-series board that will overclock the G3258.

Maybe you shouldn't suggest G3258 anymore . It's a terrible CPU for PC gaming

It works fine for some games but 7->33 FPS minimum framerate is just unbearable...

I suggested it for people who wanted the cheapest possible emulation PC that played games perfectly. G3258+750ti. You know we got a lot of those requests.

But yeah, the G4560 is much better considering Kaby Lake makes the clock speed difference irrelevant.
