U.S. only as usual.
Quote:If you are eligible, you may submit a claim for $30 cash for each qualifying GTX 970 device purchased in the U.S. between September 1, 2014 and August 24, 2016. 09-17-2016, 01:35 AM
What do you guys think - worth waiting for Kaby Lake? I'm looking to upgrade from my Haswell.
From what I can see it doesn't sound terribly exciting and may not be released for another half a year. Considering I'm not looking for something amazingly high-end (if I go for Skylake, I'm probably gonna get the 6600k), I really don't see any benefit in waiting.

Kaby Lake is optimized Skylake or basically a skylake refresh with higher clock
For example : Core i7 6500U @ 3.1GHz (max turbo , single core mode) -> Core i7 7500U @ 3.5GHz (Same) Intel only releases info about their new mobile CPU . I have no idea about the desktop lineup ; i5 7600k , i7 7700k ? Skylake is only 10% faster than Haswell . So I think you get the point If you want a real upgrade , you will have to wait to Cannonlake (2017 - 10nm die shrink ) or Icelake (2018 - probably new architecture) Laptop: Mini PC :: 09-17-2016, 03:10 AM
Yeah that's what I thought. Time to go shopping for skylake then.

So AMD Vega will have HBM2 512GB/ sec and 1TB/sec memory bandwidth. OMG , please ! What the frack Nvidia is doing ? They better release a HBM2 card next year . GDDR5X is definitely not the future ! Laptop: Mini PC :: 09-22-2016, 07:05 AM
IIRC their professional-tier cards (tesla or whatever they're called these days) have HBM2 already, and it's generally expected that they'll indeed roll it out to the GeForce series next year.

Maybe it's because our country is going through a recession but majority of tech outlets and online stores are now only selling PCs with Intel Pentiums or dual cores, i3 and i5s are rare, i7s are non existent, trying to pick out a laptop for my brother who's heading to University soon. I had to go to the next city to find him an Acer that came with a i5-5200U (no skylakes of course), no dedicated graphics so his dreams of FIFA17 might not be realized, but hopefully this will do him 3-4 years.
