The good thing about clevo is that you can access pretty much all components once you remove the backplate . Yes , it's an easy job but I can't say the same for that Asus . It seems like it's quite hard to do so
My iiyama (clevo) laptop has only 1 fan for both GPU and CPU unlike most gaming laptop from clevo . It obviously will overheat if I don't use aftermarket TIM : IC diamond 7
The CPU is overclocked at 3.4GHz atm , max temp 90C with prime95 . In gaming , 82C is the max temp I can get
If you don't want to return your Asus , you will need to repaste the TIM (if possible)

its specs are the bloody same (nearly)
the cpu is the only difference that laptop has. and imo for a laptop its far from worth it to get that

sure i have a GTX 840M but thats good enough for stuff these days.

look, what im trying to say is that gaming laptops are a joke and youre paying for overpriced stuff. use that money for a decent pc, please. you'll get better performance out of it. my ~650€ pc can outperform that laptop AND i'd have 250€ spare

yes i paid 300€ less for a laptop that so far, my only issue is a shitty trackpad driver and windows 10 who keeps reinstalling it (because shitty windows update). and you know what? it runs games -fine-
hell, technically better then my pc cause my pc's monitor has a shitty internal refresh rate.

(yes i hate laptops, sue me)
(also, dropping any laptop can cause damage. even if its just hard drive failure from the bang. wth for argument is that?)

Although all of the major laptop manufacturers (toshiba, HP, dell, etc.) are pretty bad.

i asked my friend who works in the shop i bought this laptop in and he said he gotten as much lenovo laptops back as other manufacturers. i asked this question in specific to you guys bashing lenovo.

Typo you have there . GT 840M DDR3 and ulv dual core i7 vs GTX 960M GDDR5 + quad core i7 HQ ? You're funny

Well , if you're really into gaming , video encoding and portability , you won't need a desktop .
You can always wait new CPU to be released and buy a used gaming laptop . Got mine for only $700 which is half of the price and it's so far so good . I doubt I can build a desktop that has the same specs for 700$.

no, core i5. i have a core i5. thats why on the website i didn't choose i7 when i was comparing price. with a core i7 the price would be even more different and even more silly.

ye...

video encoding will -always- be more shit on a laptop, even on the "gaming" models because the cpu chips are low performance chips.
and thats a very specific group youre talking about that would need portability and video encoding/rendering. maybe somebody that works for a youtubing company or something (like in the linus media group). i think they have the money for even better laptops though that actually do perform awesomely.

and i love gaming as much as the next, but so far ive had no time to game when i was away from home so idk how you guys do it.

the only reason i can understand a person would like to game on a laptop is students who only have budget for one, and then a laptop with my specs will be just fine.

also, what are the specs of the 700€ used laptop? we could both be surprised by its comparison to my I5/8GB ram/GTX 650 Ti pc to be honest.

He mostly only gets returns for major hardware defects. I get emails from my clients about any and all issues.

Unless they use CUDA to encode videos, what you said made no sense, since most video encoding is done on the CPU.

fair point, but rendering should, afaik, be faster with a decent gpu. then cpu kicks in for encoding.

also, my point still stands anyway

Checked them out. They do ship to us, but for like $250.

Yeah I already returned the ASUS. Had it for a couple of hours and it spiked to 90c without doing anything (barely any load) and running Cinebench had it around 87~96c.

I also do that . I rarely post my video on youtube though (I want all of my works are safe and sound ) . Quad Core with HT is fast , it really saved my time . I used to own i5 4300M @ 3.3GHz , it's so slow....
