I've been waiting for this for a while! Time to finally replace my GTX 760!

Watching the live presentation with a developer was super neat, since we are both aware of this and how it works from different angles, we could really talk about a lot of cool things like what features of this were important and why!

How much of a step up is the 1070 from, say, a 960? Because, with my current situation, there is no way I am going to be able to buy a 1080 with the price I heard. (something like $600)
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k, OC'ed to 4.2 GHz
RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3-1866
GPU: GTX 1080 Founders Edition

I don't think so
GTX 980/GTX 980 Ti couldn't beat GTX 780 SLI ,
GTX 780/GTX 780 Ti couldn't beat GTX 680 SLI
GTX 1080 just went a head and chopped off GTX 980 SLI like cutting a banana . Nvidia stuck on 28nm for years and this 16nm is the answer for that big jump ?

There is no info about GTX 1070 yet but I bet it would be on the same level as GTX 980 or it could be even better than that (judging from GTX 1080's performance)
Normally , you will 2 GTX 960s in SLI to beat GTX 980

GTX 680 to 780 wasn't even a generation. What? They were both Kepler. Also GTX 1080 is 2x faster then 980 SLI in VR. Not normal games.

As always: Wait for AMD to release their cards, wait for real-life performance benchmarks and then you make a choice what to buy. Never trust those fancy number made using specifically for these cards made demos or the 2 games for which they either optimised their drivers and/or just happen to run very well.

I never got why people get all excited about these announcements. It's like a d*** measuring contest where each contestant brings their own ruler.

I didn't say anything about generation . I responded to @NV's post
Btw , GTX 770 is faster than GTX 680 even though they're both Kepler . ̶G̶̶T̶̶X̶ ̶9̶̶7̶̶0̶̶(̶̶m̶̶a̶̶x̶̶w̶̶e̶̶l̶̶l̶ ̶i̶̶s̶ ̶s̶̶l̶̶o̶̶w̶̶e̶̶r̶ ̶t̶̶h̶̶a̶̶n̶ ̶G̶̶T̶̶X̶ ̶7̶̶8̶̶0̶̶(̶̶k̶̶e̶̶p̶̶l̶̶e̶̶r̶ ̶w̶̶h̶̶a̶̶t̶ ̶w̶̶i̶̶l̶̶l̶ ̶y̶̶o̶̶u̶ ̶h̶̶a̶̶v̶̶e̶ ̶t̶̶o̶ ̶s̶̶a̶̶y̶ ̶a̶̶b̶̶o̶̶u̶̶t̶ ̶t̶̶h̶̶a̶̶t̶ ̶?̶

GTX 770 vs GTX 680
GTX 970 vs GTX 780

Also should mention that in certain situations the 970 can own the 780ti. The witcher 3 is the best example of this.

Oh and I wanted to ask, the 1080 has DP 1.4 which supports 4k HDR. I was wondering if HDR support would be a possible feature in dolphin by chance? :3

Whee time to replace my 680 with 1070SLI.

As usual, NV was right to advise waiting for the die shrink rather than jumping on the 9xx bandwagon.

Now I just notice there are two version of GTX 1080 . GTX 1080 and the founder edition GTX 1080 (factory OCed card)
So which one did you use , Nvidia ? It's not strange that Nvidia just use the OCed version to wipe off the floor
Also , GTX 1080 isn't GP100 but GP104 . I bet Nvidia will release GP100 in a couple of months (Maybe 1080 Ti or Titan Extreme or sth lol )
