Hey Friends! New to the forum, but a Dolphin user for 3 years! Lets get to it!

Long story short, i can run games like Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Farcry 4 etc on all Ultra settings with no problems what so ever. no problems.... BUT Twilight Princess with Insane Slugs Texture pack destroys my FPS???

My Specs: (I read the rules, really!)

AMD FX8350 OCd @ 4.4Ghz
Asus Strix GTX970
8GB Crucial Ballistix 1600
Corsair H100i Watercooler
and enough fans to keep Chris Farley from overheating (May he rest in Peace...)

Needless to say my GPU never gets past 60C and my CPU never vaults 50C.

Now i have run this game on this software in MANY ways from 1080p with aniscopic filter @ MAX, anti alias @ MAX, and the Insane Slugs Texture Pack to 720p with all of the aforementioned completely OFF and there is still frame skipping and dropping and everything. I've tried it with Direct11, Direct12 (Experimental) and OpenGL and its thew same issues. Its pretty frustrating to be able to MAX out Witcher 3 but when i want to relive my glorious Nintendo nostalgia my rig cant hold up haha. Im a stubborn person so i refuse to believe i cant run this game because of a, though fairly intense, Texture Pack.

Sorry for the rant! Thanks for any help, Friends!

Does it work fine without the texture pack? Is the Hyrule Field Speed Hack turned on?

ccaldwell3287, a gaming PC doesn't necessarily mean it will be good for emulation. AMD CPUs have weak single thread performance, but that's the most important when it comes to emulation. While Dolphin has become faster on the CPU and more games have become playable on AMD CPUs, TP is not exactly a lightweight game, especially if you don't have the speedhack on.

oh it works beautifully without the Texture Pack. Ever since 5.0 came out EVERYTHING i have runs like a dream! I can set it to pretty much max without the texture pack but the second that texture pack goes on its game over. ive looked for less demanding texture packs but it seems that most are gone or just impossible to download without some shady "Downloader" specifically linked to it. When Malwarebytes says NO, i say OK!

Speed hack also doesnt really help much

Most people would think that it's your CPU that's at fault, but your performance shouldn't completely tank just from high-res textures if it was in fact your CPU.

Would it be blasphemous to suggest that it's maybe the 970's segmented vram that's at fault? (the whole 3.5/0.5GB thing) I mean, very large high-res textures in various PC games are one of things that are known tank performance on a 970...
Dolphin 5.0 CPU benchmark

GPU: Intel integrated
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Vengence @ DDR3-1600
OS: Win7 SP1 x64 / Linux Mint of some variety

Do you have "Prefetch Custom Textures" checked in Graphics > Advanced?

If so, turn it off. 8 GB is probably not enough for whatever texture pack you're using.

I did think it may be my ram. It's been my weak spot for quite some time now. I'll give that a shot! Thanks for the replies, friends!
