Quote:I think if I get 1 GB 5670, that would cost me Rs. 7k.

Once again. 1 GB of vdram will make absolutely no difference whatsoever, not even 1%. If you want to get a 5670 save some money by buying the 512MB version.

Quote:I think 5670 is my last resort if both manufacturers are not releasing their new lineup, which will probably lower this pricepoint....and RAM amount is the last preference in the GPU selection i guess...

Neither brand is going to be releasing their next series of video cards until at least november/late october, and it will probably be even longer than that since TSMC is behind right now.

Not that anyone cares about my opinion but I have the same opinion in nvidia vs. ati that I have in amd vs. intel. They trade blows. Neither is better and they aren't always "better in their own way". Every once and awhile one of them steals the crown from the other. If I were to buy a new video card right now I would definitely go with ati, I have been buying nvidia for the last couple of years for many good reasons but ever since amd bought ati ati has really turned themselves around. Just like with intel and amd I look at the specific chip instead of the brand, except with gpus you also have to take drivers into account. But I prefer R870 to gt100 anyday. I hate gt100, the die size, tdp, power consumption, and integer throughput are all at unacceptable numbers for me. As a scientific processor gt100 is great, but as gpu used for video games R870 is a much better choice in almost every way. That's just my opinion and I'm not going to elaborate because their are so many variables to consider that it would take me an entire page to do so.

I can already tell this is going to end badly.

Once again a commercial war here!

Every generation of GPU has a monster that is stronger than the opponent Brands previous Monster !
Otherwise there is no way to fight (and make profits ,for Nvidia and ATI)

Oh and actually for the under 200 budget , today nvidia released GTX 460 ...so they re better than ATI ?^^
Pentium G2120 Ivy Bridge 3.1Ghz
8GB 1333 DDR3
ASUS 560 TI CU2 TOP

That makes no sense. That's actually one of the reasons why I want an ati card. ATIs driver level AA works with more modern games and they have proper supersampling in almost all game engines. One of the reasons I switched to nvidia from ati when geforce 6 came out is because ati decided to drop SS support from their drivers. Then when ati reimplemented it in the 4000 series their new SS algorithms not only have noticeable better quality than nvidia but work with a lot more game engines. For example most game engines that use opengl won't work with nvidia SS algorithms but will work with ati. Not to mention many games like oblivion for example require you to use AA or HDR since nvidia AA algorithms are incompatible with the games implementation of hdr, but with ati you can use hdr with aa in any game.

Yeah nvidia finally released the long awaited GT104 GPU and it's surprisingly good. It trades blows with the 5830 depending on the game but in the majority of games the GTX 460 wins and it's the same price as the 5830.

I also really hate it when people reduce an nvidia vs. ati argument down to who has the fastest card, THAT MEANS NOTHING! Especially when the fastest card is a dual gpu card (which doesn't always scale properly) or a super hot power whore (which makes it a bad long term investment since it's unreliable).

1st I can easily make references to NV's quote...
Dual GPU card is no doubt ATI Radeon HD 5890 and a super HOT (why not sexy...???DSmile power whore is my GTX 480...I am cheesy.

We can't even imagine but there are many different uses of GTX 480, making it my favorite... HEHE!
