Hi,

I've got a GTX 285 wich frequencies switch to "low 3D" when I run Dolphin. It results in a dramatic loss in FPS (19fps against 25 when running SMS for example). What about you? My config: Win 7 x64, Q9550@3600MHz, 4 Go DDR3 1600.

I don't understand the question. Are you asking if switching to "low 3D" has a similar effect for us?

He is saying that his card is reverting to lower clock speed while playing Dolphin, so his fps goes down. So it's either overheating or the drivers suck at adjusting the clock.

Oh. Nvidia drivers will not lower clock rates just because the card is running hot, they only increase fan speed when that happens. I would reccomend that you update to the latest drivers like godrays said and then create a profile for dolphin and set the power profile to "Prefer Maximum Performance". If you don't know how just say so and I'll walk you through it.

Yes! Thank you very much guys! I didn't know we could change the alimentation level in forceware's games profiles... It works fine! No need to flash bios, great!
Have a nice week!

You can also switch between Low power 2d, standard desktop, and performance 3d with rivatuner. Do note that with gtx250+ series the clock rates between lp2d and p3d are about 10-20x so it will definitely make a difference which one you use while gaming. The 2d option is just for when your computer is idling so it would consume less energy. If it tries switching to an idle profile while gaming you can always set it to performance with the program

Hell everybody. When I bought the Qosmio X300, it ran fine, but since about two weeks, I noticed a few crashes in games which ran flawlessly before.
After checking, I found out that, while at first the GPU would slow down whenever it wasn't needed, now it always runs at full pace.
So its temperature remains between 60 and 65°C permanently (when it used to slow down, it would drop around 40°).
I know that 65° C is something it can cope with, but I'm wondering why it never slows down anymore.
Does Anybody have an idea?
