Good specs, still slow??

Right, it was a 3570K for $190 at micro center. But for the $80 for a new mobo and a known excellent CPU for dolphin, that's a hard deal to pass up, albeit more work on my end than just swapping the CPU...
I plan on playing TP and Skyward Sword, some of the Kirby's, Mario Galaxy's, Metroids and a few others.

From what I've read, the stock G3258 seems to outperform the OC'd 3570K with Dolphin. And other tests show the G3258 as being the top CPU for dolphin.

Now this isn't a dedicated Dolphin rig, but I do plan on hooking up the 50" to the HDMI out on my GPU so I can play like normal. So I'll need the CPU to still perform well with daily tasks like movies, web browsing, Office, etc. It seems that the G3258 will be just as good if not better than my 2400 in there, especially if it's overclocked.

Thoughts??

The G3258 overclocked to 4.7 Ghz performs the same as the i3-4330 in gaming and regular usage outside of Dolphin

Just keep the Vcore under 1.35V for safe overclocking . The higher Vcore the higher chance your CPU will blow up and the hotter temp your CPU will release
With 1.35Vcore , you can push the CPU frequency up to 4.6GHz

Good to know, thank you for that! I'll (hopefully) be heading over to micro center tomorrow during lunch to pick up the new mobo and CPU. install might take place next week, no clue though. I'll be using the old parts to upgrade my fiance's computer, so it will be a bit of a job to clone my info and then install the new stuff and then copy over all of hers too...

Just went to microcenter. G3258 and MSI mobo for $106 out the door. $10 mail in rebate will bring it down to $96, not too shabby for what the CPU is capable of!!!
