Hi all,

I'm trying to find a good sensor bar that will help me play Dolphin on my mounted tv in my living room. My tv is mounted at an angle so that the tv helps cover the corner.

I've been scared to buy some of these sensor bars because I'm looking for something low profile that can stay on top of my flatscreen and not look too ridiculous.

Any suggestions?

I'd suggest the Mayflash DolphinBar. While I am somewhat hesitant to recommend it since it's primary feature (bluetooth for wiimotes) isn't working at the moment, that is being worked on and should function in time. For now you'll need separate bluetooth as normal. However, I'm using my DolphinBar as a USB sensor bar, and it's a really good one. It's a simple black bar so it's not obvious or obnoxious looking, it's always on, runs by USB, and it's just as bright and strong as the genuine article from my wii.

...just get a USB extension cord if you get one. It's cord is only 3ft long and would probably have a problem when put on a TV. Measure out how much cord you'll need and get an extension cord that will reach.

Could I just connect the usb to my tv usb and have the infrared work? I can buy a bluetooth adapter with no problem for my pc. Since my tv is mounted. I don't want to have any wires go from my tv to the pc.

Combining the bluetooth and sensor bar is a nice idea, but they are probably using one of those no-name Chinese bluetooth adapters that you can find on ebay for a dollar. I've tried those kind of things before, and after you spend an hour researching how to get the drivers installed, you realize you would have actually saved money buying a more expensive one that started working the second it was plugged in.

Yes. All you need is the 5v power. I use a Power A wireless sensor bar converted to usb. With this model, all you have to do is connect a usb cable to the wires that go to the batteries. It's adjustable for different size TVs, which is nice, but it is wider than a lot of the other sensor bars out there. I'm sure someone here can recommend a slimmer one that's already usb powered.

The device is designed to just plug and play. It should work. I can't test it, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

Not this time. It actually works really well (and it will even get -TR support). But as I said, that functionality doesn't work in Dolphin right now. It's being addressed. In the meantime, it's a very good sensor bar with perks.

Don't cast judgment on something you don't know anything about. It was made specifically for Dolphin and they are working with us on improving it. When everything is working it has the potential to be the go-to sensor bar and bluetooth system for Dolphin users.

Thanks for clearing that up.

"it is a combination of sensor bar and bluetooth adapter, with its own proprietary drivers (windows only)"

I'm a Linux user, so it's still useless to me. Do you know if they will write drivers for Linux and Mac?

libbluetooth, irrc, handles Bluetooth stuff on Linux, and "drivers" are usually kernel modules, so using an up to date version of both should keep you covered, unless the Mayflash DolphinBar uses some really exotic USB trickery (likely the case here). You probably could it to work to some degree, but full-functionality might depend on additional kernel and/or libbluetooth dvelopment. No one has tested it under Linux afaik though. I could, but I'm not interested :p

I've been using one of those no name $1 bluetooth adapters for years. I plugged it in, drivers installed immediately, and haven't had a single problem in 3+ years.
