The prices I found in Rs for the 4690k and the Xeon 1230v3 were miles apart.
OP please quote your best prices to buy these because from what I could find on Snapdeals and Amazon, it's a no-brainer.
Where did you find Xeon 1230v3's price in amazon? I don't think it's even available in amazon.in and snapdeal.
Xeon seems to be rare for here. I found a link though. It's around 1500rs more than i5 4690k on the same site:

It will all depend on what local prices are in my region though.

While it's pointless to pair i5 4690k with H81/B85/H87/H97 , you can pair Xeon with any mobo as long as it has 1150 socket
Now let me explain why it's pointless :
_You can't overclock i5 4690k without Z97 mobo
_It's true that you can sell i5 4690k alone at higher price than i5 4690 but what about the mobo ? You won't be able sell it along with that i5 at high price because no one will buy it if you do so
_i5 4690k isn't i5 4670k , i5 4690k belong to Haswell refresh line : Devil Canyon . Haswell refresh don't work with h81/B85/H87 unless that mobo has available bios update for new Haswell chips . In other words , both i5 4690 and i5 4690k won't run on that MSI H81 mobo
hmm... the only question I have is will Xeon 1230 v3 give me the same performance as i5 4690k while running dolphin or not? Since I'll be putting in almost 1500rs more in it, I would expect that it would give me at least the same performance if not more. Also, only preferable if it has significant benefits in pc gaming over i5 4690k. I just want to give my family some good time. We've been through some tough times recently. And since wii has the best family games, I'd like at least most of the games(mostly side scrollers like mario and donkey kong and racing games like mario kart) to run without trouble. Also, I can afford the z97 mobo so it wouldn't be a problem.
