Aliceeashley - your processor will be ok but I think your graphics card will not. It's not really made for gaming at all, sorry Sad

I have Dual-core e5200 and Geforce GTX 260 with 4GB ram and Mario Kart double dash on grandprix works 46 fps, not 60fps(on 60hz). How Can I speed it up ? I am using 3404 version.

- enable dual core mode
- enable idle skipping
- enable all advanced settings
- use native resolution
- overclock your cpu
- buy faster cpu
- buy pal-version (only 50fps needed, dont know if pal works)

(priority decreasing)

hi guys,
yesterday i found some 720p wii gameplay videos with dolphin by chance and was immediately blown away! sadly my current pc is about 7-8 years old and probably not faster than the wii itself. since i would like to finally have a really good gaming pc again, i plan to buy one sometime this year. when i do so i would like to make sure that all the wii games (even the best looking ones) will run with dolphin in 1080p without slowdowns on that computer. is it even possible with the current pc-hardware available? if yes, what hardware would at least be required?

Yeah, I figured that. But I decided to get it on my other computer, and to my surprise, it worked a lot better than I thought Smile.I just gotta get that blue tooth dongle to hook up the wiimote to the computer. And maybe an extra 3 gb of ram.I'm on 1GB on this computer, so the games lag a little, but not too much, 4gb should be perfect to play lag-free games.

actually the amount of ram you have doesn't affect how emulation works, it's the speed and architecture of your cpu that matters Smile

the resolution does not matter, thats only graphic card work. you can get a really cheap card (<100$) that can do 1080p without any problem.

what matters is the cpu.

for the games i testet (all gc), it would be usefull to have a core 2 cpu(or i7) with 5-6 ghz to run allways at full speed. i got a 3ghz c2d and some games break down to half speed sometimes.

But thats impossible, as 3,33ghz is the highest you can buy and even overclocked not much more then 4ghz can be reached for 24/7 work.

And wii games need even more speed then gc ones.

i doubt that in the next 5 years there will be a cpu buyable that can play ALL wii games at full speed.

wow... ok, that is disappointing. too bad, that dolphin can't make use of quad core cpus. will the cpus even get as fast as 4-5 ghz in the future? i thought the reason to make dual/quad core cpus is that the one cpu can't be made much faster than 3ghz?
thank you for your help anyway.

If your processor isn't overclocked yet then by all means do so. It has some great potential when it comes to overclocking, and if you're lucky you can make it work at 3.75GHz without even touching the voltage on the processor.

it is, but there are no attemps at the moment.

nearly everyone thinks that all software can work good on a quadcore, or even more core, cpu.

Just look here in the forums : daily request for quadcore support from people not realizing that its just not possible.
but all want quadcores.

So why should intel/amd work for higher per core performance ?

- its much harder to achieve then add additional cores
- its more power consuming
- people prefer more cores.

if you create a survey and ask if someone prefers 4*3ghz or 2*4ghz, most will think that 12 is better then 8, but it does not work that way.

to not reveal that, intel and amd dont clock their dualcores higher then their quadcores. this way the quadcore always CAN be faster, but more important, it is never slower.

this is the main reason why we dont got fast cpus these days.

4ghz on a core 2 duo are possible for intel to sell, but it would destroy their other prices.
