Sorry for the double post.
I had a go at the new dolphin build for netplay (4.0 - 7161) today, which I had hoped had a chance at fixing my issues. However I'm still getting the same fps drops when playing (anywhere from 50-60 fps) which makes it a little unplayable. 08-08-2015, 08:04 AM
Problem resolved with some help of the dolphin devs
settings changed: changed audio backend to Xaudio2 vsync was turned off (apparently AMD's implementation of this feature is very buggy) Everything seems stable now 08-15-2015, 04:00 AM
Alright guys, I'm back for more.
After a week of having played brawl, project m and melee on ladder I'm still getting stuttery performance from time to time This only seems to occur in project m 3.6b and brawl, and only on netplay. If anyone has any ideas on how to troubleshoot these performance issues, let me know. 08-15-2015, 01:36 PM
Turn the buffer to 100 when the game starts lagging. If it still lags, then it's hardware/configuration. If the lag stops, then it's just an issue with the connection.

I've done some network monitoring and have been able to confirm that throughout the day there are microspikes where the latency will suddenly spike very high for a microsecond and then turn back to normal again.
I'll obviously need to look into my connection and router settings, and also a call to my ISP to figure out where the problem lies. I must admit that I am a little curious as to why Dolphin drops/rises the FPS so severely when it "senses" a microspike in the latency of the connection This makes the "laggy" experience a lot worse than on their console counterparts (where the fps stays at a constant 60fps) Does anyone have a bit more information on why the above happens? |
