Not even deadzone can fix it. I've tried both recommended drivers, and my sticks still bounce like crazy. I'd need a deadzone of 90 to be free of this bounce with deadzone, and that's a little excessive.

So, how does one fix this stupid stick bounce, software-side? I've never experienced it on the PS3, or with any other controller; just when using PS3 controllers. I know that my trusty gamecube controller (that I haven't used since we actually had our wii plugged in) doesn't have it physically, and probably wouldn't have it in software, but the PS3 sticks bounce really hard, and it's annoying when you're trying to do really accurate movements in a game, and your character turns around and makes you miss the glitch.

EDIT: it's bad enough of bounce that I stopped playing my gamecube games because of it, by the way (PC can't run any of our wii games, and also I didn't get a chance to rip them before they all vanished). Do I just need a new controller?

Stick bounce will occur two ways on that new of a controller.

1) a really bad adapter
2) an unsupported controller ( 3rd party ) on the adapter.

Its very unlikely but it could be a damaged pot( potentiometer ). From what I know about ps3 ( very limited actually ) its a usb controller. So no adapter is required. Thus, I'd suggest you have a bad controller. Can you test another? I just can not see how a driver would do that?

I can see and hear the stick bouncing, I know why it's happening, I just want to know if there's a way to get rid of the issue of it.

Also, the controller's a year old now.

EDIT: Should've been a lot more clear.

The bounce is when the stick returns.

I used accurate movement as an example because I tend to use taps instead of shallow holds when I need to accurately adjust quickly.

So why is it happening? If you mean you physically see the stick bounce, then you will need to fix the controller. You can't fix that in dolphin...

Well, it's mostly just the spring's reaction. Most of my controllers (other than my beautiful GC and PS2 controllers) have this, even the ones that might as well be brand-new. I just know that the game issue caused by it is somehow stopped on the PS3, and, if there isn't a way to fix it software-side on the PC, well, that'll make me a little sad.

I make usb adapters and thus have to buy hundreds of controllers. I dont have any use for usb controllers though. So ps3 and xbox 360's I never fooled with. You are telling me that these control sticks bounce? Is it some sort of force feedback that makes them react?

Yes, if the stick is physically moving, you can not compensate for that if its too much for the dead zons to catch.

The re-centering is really weak on PS3 controllers, 'cause it's largely faithful to the older systems, which were geared towards weak little children. But it's a little bit backwards; the re-centering becomes stronger the farther out you bring the stick on most PS3 controllers, and it's weak enough in the center that it causes itself to overshoot.

And, there has to be a second control layer that smooths out movements that happen to quickly out there, or something else to dissolve this issue, it seems like too common-able of a problem to not have a fix.

Possible I dont fully follow you, though, if its so common then the net would have an answer. If google can not help you, we surly can't.
