I'm trying to play Melee with a Gecko code enabled, but every time I enable it, the screen goes entirely white and I have to kill Dolphin via Task Manager. The code I am using is this:

C2021ABC 00000002

39C00001 38600006
60000000 00000000
C236A4A8 00000007
C03F0034 2C0E0001
41820024 3C004080
90010030 3C004040
90010034 C0010030
EC210032 C0010034
EC210024 39C00000
281E0000 00000000

It's supposed to make the game render in 16:9, and it looks better than the default widescreen hack in Dolphin. It works perfectly on console (Nintendon-t with cheat support on Wii U), so I'm not really sure what to make of it. I even tried entering it as an AR code just for kicks, but it also crashed then.

I have no idea what you mean by "bisecting." Could you be more specific?

First, try a few old versions and see if it works. Maybe 4.0.2 first, then 3.5... Once you get one where it works, test the build that's halfway in between the working build and the non-working build. (So if 4.0.2 works and 4.0-5000 doesn't, you want to test 4.0-2500.) Then you continue testing the build halfway in between the most recent working version and the oldest non-working version in that way until you find the single build that's responsible.

OK, you can disregard this, I suppose... I somehow got it to work. It always crashed when I added the code in Dolphin, but putting it directly into the .ini seems to work... the only thing I can possibly think of is that it was being added as an AR code instead of a Gecko code when I did it using Dolphin (even though I was in the Gecko tab). On that note, why does Melee have a GALE01, a GALE01r0, and a GALE01r2 .ini? I never understood why it was necessary to have three separate inis for one game.
