Hey everyone. I've been building an arcade cabinet around mario kart and i want to put mario kart wii on it. My issue is that i want the ability to shoot an item either forward or back. Now with a controller that's easy, but for an arcade setup not so much. What i want is for one button to activate the analog stick up and the right trigger (fire) to shoot forward and for a different button to activate the analog stick down and the right trigger to shoot back. So i mapped two buttons as described and it didnt work...the items just shoot in their default direction. My guess is that the stick has to be held before the right trigger is pressed to shoot the item in that direction. Does anyone see a way around this?

thanks
Mike

Hmm, maybe set the up analog to NOT <fire forward button> and the down analog to NOT <fire backward button>. Then set the fire action to <fire forward button> OR <fire backward button>.

Depending on how the game handles latency for the item throws, either this will work or it will always throw forward. You'll have to try it. If the throw happens on te release this will work, but I'd it happens on the press it won't.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure the throw happens on the release. I'll check it out.

Thanks Again

Throw happens on release, as this is vital to dangle non-dangly items, in order to avoid incoming weapons.

you're right but not that i think about it, the action happens on the press. So you might not throw the weapon when you press the button but you do activate the weapon when you press the button. I think thats more important to the logical side of the game. if that makes sense. any other options? maybe some kidn of hack?

How about:

Fire button: NOT <fire forward> OR NOT <fire backward>
Up Analog: <fire forward>
Down Analog: <fire backward>

What does this do?

EDIT: THIS WILL NOT WORK DON'T TRY!!!

You need to somehow find a way of telling if the button was just released or not, or if it was never pressed. That is the issue here.
