I'm currently undubbing Baten Kaitos, and I am unfamiliar with gamecube utilities. Is there a way using gcmrebuilder or another utility that will let me build a gcm or iso WITHOUT the size constraint?

(I own a gamecube, a wii, and baten kaitos)

(Posted in development because this is where the people who would know would be)

Information
Try using this version of GC Rebuilder, I forgot from what site I downloaded it, but this version allow you to completely recreate a working GCM from scratch, the only size limitation is of the whole GCM image that can't be more than 1,35GiB...

Attached Files
.zip   gcr_v1.0.zip (Size: 38.2 KB / Downloads: 728)
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
ASRock Z97M OC Formula: Pentium G3258, GeForce GT 440, 16 GB DDR3-1600, Windows 10 (22H2)

That's the version I'm using and the 1.35GB limit is the problem.

Or is there a way to run the game from dolphin without generating an iso? (Start.dol just blackscreens)

Baten Kaitos uses an autogenerated filesystem and hex filenames so it's VERY difficult to figure out what's going on.

On top of that, the audio file indices might be different between the JP and US versions, which would result in me having to locate those and replace or edit(shudder) them.

Well, no clue, I don't know any tool that let you to build a GCM bigger than 1,35GB, but, have you tried to purge the audio files corresponding to JP version and maintaining only the US version?

They don't have the same files names due to the automated filename generation Sad

Also It's difficult to determine which ones they are, they're not brstm or a normal type as far as I can tell. The background music is CAF and the voice is CSF (I think). Can't find a codec for the CSF files.

Not directly related to this question, but I worked on a BK undub 2 months ago, was able to make it under 1.35GB quite easily. You're doing something wrong Smile

CSF is standard 4-bit ADPCM like you can find in most GC games, you just have to reverse the header (easy). Send me an email if you have any questions : delroth@gmail.com.
