Unfortunately I'm getting framedrops in the Los Angeles level with this.. All other levels I've tried run just fine with a (near) constant 60FPS, but the LA level just doesn't seem to work right.. It seems to run fine for 20 to 40 seconds, and then gets very choppy for the same amount of time, to working fine, to choppy, etc.

I'm running 4.0 on OS X, without audio, and have tried changing all relevant settings (I think)...

Anything I can do to get this level running fine? Or should I just try another version (PC version through wine, or PS2 version maybe? [shame you can't get your progress to another platform])

Using Windows would probably be faster for you. I don't have Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 to test, but 4 works FAIRLY well. I mean, it slows down once in a while in big levels (but it sometimes does it on Cube too)

PC version isn't compatible with my controller unfortunately.. As I feared.. And all other levels work flawlessly, it's only the LA level that causes problems..

Maybe LA just requires a lot of CPU for something? Try messing with some of the settings in the hacks section to see if you can get it to work.

Could be, though I'm not quite clear what causes it.. There are some extra effects in that level that aren't found to that extent in others, like a carchase.. Thing is, that the framerate drop seems to occur everywhere in the level, on and off, no matter what effect is or isn't playing..

Oh and I've tried all the hacks, none solve the problem..

edit: just wanted to add that this happens in windows as well..

This weekend I discovered that 2 player mode doesn't work either.. The split screen doesn't really split, and the screens get muddled together in the middle.. about 3/4st of the following screenshot is actually the screen for the second player, and the ground doesn't render correctly for both players..

May want to try using EFB2Ram or RealXFB to get this rendering correctly.
