Not sure why, but switching to or from full screen (alt-enter) causes the hi-res textures to unload. This is only prevalent in the DX9 plug-in, and is not an issue with OpenGL or DX11.

Also, some revision after Dolphin 2.0 changed the way certain textures are named, so not every texture will load in current revisions. However, all this requires is for me to find the right names for these textures and re-upload. Unfortunately, there's another problem. A couple textures, for whatever reason, are being given random names. Each time I dump them I get a different name. It surmounts to not being able to load the hi-res version of that texture. I didn't have this problem before.

Uhh...

Edit: The next version will include Link's eyes and eyebrows, but his eyes are one of the textures that constantly changes its name. I got it to work once, but that was it.

@Billiam_1988

What settings are you using and what revision?

@theeman

Those are some very undetailed specs which tell us nothing. What gpu and cpu are you using (for all I know you could be using a laptop with an integrated intel igp and a 2.0 GHz core 2 duo)?

Same thing with your settings. You only posted 1 tab. We need to see what plugins you are using and what settings you are using for those plugins.

@Benito

Talk to the devs about this on irc.

Well first try to use the D3D9 video plugin instead. I also noticed your using a quadro nvs 135. I must say i have never seen someone running dolphin witha quadro video card before. Can you tell me what cpu you are using (run dxdiag)?

Your gpu is the biggest problem but you should still be able to get decent performance with D3D9 (graphics plugin in the plugins tab in the main config window) using efb to texture 640 x 480, no SSAA, no safe texture cache. Also turn off audio throttling in the dsp plugin settings.

The next version will include:

-5 of Link's eyebrow textures (which I assume is all of them)
-6 of Link's eye textures (which I assume is all of them)
-Link's pupil
-7 of Link's mouth textures (got lazy and didn't do 2 uncommon ones, not sure if there are any others)
-Link's belt buckle
-Link's ears
-Lens flare effect

Original Textures:

Hi-res Textures (minus the pupil, as it wouldn't load):

I hate to say this because I really love your work but it's not really noticeable. Which I expect since this is cell shaded art and each character model texture consists of only a couple of colors with a very basic design/shape, it's part of the art style. And that type of art style doesn't benefit a lot from high resolution textures compared to textures based on realism. At first I didn't see any difference, I had to look really closely to see the difference and even then the only difference I could see was that the eyes were slightly sharper around the edges of the pupil.

Re-texturing environments instead of character models with high resolution textures would probably be more noticeable. If you want to do character models though I suggest you pick a different art direction and do some thing "different" rather than remaking the same texture at a higher resolution. Not trying to insult your work or anything, just making a suggestion is all.

Here's an easier to see comparison, including the pupil texture. It was really just a test to see what could be done, and if I could do it well. So if nobody sees a difference, that's fine.

Hi-res:

The belt buckle is in the other comparison.
