well, i use a ps2 controller too, but actually, i'm using the right analog for camera control and the hat for the c-analog functions, thought it was better, never tried the the way you did !

I worked it out. But I had a few issues.

When clicking on an "assign key" box (any button or analog axis at all), the emulator would automatically assign "A+2" or "A-0" or something like that. So I had to keep the button pressed in my controller and only then could I assign the correspondent key.

I still had issues with the right analog stick config (camera), so I edited the njoy.ini file. Wasn't hard to find what sequence "A +/- X" I would need to get the X and Y axis right. I did the same thing to map the D-Pad buttons (Dungeon Map, Chart, etc...).

So now I have no controller mapping issues. I'll try and use the suggestions in the post above to use D3D plugin.

I believe the pictograph hang is not solved, right?

Yep, same thing happened to me. I haven't figured out if the pictograph is essential to the game yet though. I am getting 30fps stable with my config (see my sig) using the d3d plugin (1920x1080,4xAA,filtering,etc). I tried using a ps2 pad as well, but found a x360 pad with the pc dongle was preferable as all the buttons are already mapped and it's wireless.

How did you get it working with D3D plugin? I've been trying, but it doesn't go pass the initial nintendo screen. (What did you mean with "see my sig"?) Sorry about the noob questions.

Do you know any good references to see what are the optimal settings for a given GC/WII game?

What video card do you have? I'll post my settings here but those may or may not help you. Let me know how it works out for you. By in my sig, i meant my computer specs were there.

Here is a good resource for optimal settings: http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-3713.html also check out emuforums' dolphin forum for further compatibility discussion.

Note: the 640x480 dolphin is showing is incorrect, it should be 1920x1080, but my plasma tv wasn't connected. Replace that value with the native resolution of your monitor.

Additionally,
in the GFX screen of the D3D plugin under enhancements:
- force bi/tri filtering checked (optional)

in the GFX screen of the D3D plugin under Advanced:
- nothing checked

I use the same video card as you, but GT instead of GS.
Just tried playing with those exact settings and still nothing happens past the nintendo logo. I'm using the 3972 revision.

Actually I can't get any game to run using the D3D plugin, there really must be something wrong.
How do you get a hold of the latest Dolphin revisions?

Edit : OK, I just got a new REV (4152).
The Pictograph stuff doesn't hang anymore.
The D3D plugin is not working that well, I can't see the conversation windows, the character is all green, the item cursor on the superior right side doesn't show colours either, etc...

Are your nvidia drivers updated? how about your os? ...what are your complete system specs?

That's probably a good place to start.

Taliesin,

I was having the same problem of the game locking up when I tried to take a pictograph. After much experimentation I found that I turn off anti-aliasing, and set the Copy EFB to system RAM, then the pictograph works.

My specs:
Using DolphinIL 4322
Dual Core, Idle Skipping, Unlimited Jit Cache
AMD X2 5600+, NVIDIA 8800GT, 2GB RAM, Windows XP SP2

Anyone notice that in the latest orleans builds, ww has been suffering major issues??? r4340 is quite bad for it, i get shadow effects all wrong (strange lines spouting out that trail across the map), and a really slow speed when compared to older revs. Am I doing something wrong here?

Heya, I started playing Wind Waker with Orlean's Win32-4351; I'm amazed to see the game running perfectly and full speed even with 16xAA Big Grin
Anyway, there's one issue I'm having with the DirectX9-plugin (OpenGL isn't nearly as fast for me) and I couldn't find anyone else reporting it, so:
Randomly the screen suddenly goes black, i.e. the hud is still there, I can even see on the map that I'm moving, but the sound effects are missing also...only the BGM is playing then...
I've had this issue on Link's home island as well as on that merchants' island now...however, I didn't have it in the forsaken fortress (or whatever the name was)...
Am I the only one having that issue? Any way to fix it?
Thanks!

I've been having the same issue using r4322 and the OpenGL plugin. It's not very frequent, but it seems just randomly the screen will go black for 30 seconds or even a minute or so. I've had it happen a couple of times when Link speaks to someone, the screen will go black but then it will come back with the new camera angle on the conversation. I also had it happen climbing a ladder on the outdoor section of the Dragon's Roost dungeon - about when the camera would swing up to see Link facing an enemy (a bird, I think) the screen went black and it didn't come back until the bird had knocked me off the ladder and Link fell back down to the ground.
