to solve it :
- download an old version (maybe 3404 from main page)
- play until you can save (real save, not savestate !)
- copy save to new dolphin

Really strange issue btw :/
Could you find the rev that started it ?

Also, i wasn't able to reproduce on PAL, using latest rev, OGL, DSP HLE with sound enabled and throttle (as MarioMadness said, the game waits for the audio to stop before going on, so if you have audio desyncs, it might cause a black screen)

- use direct3d
- rightclick on game -> properties
- select bloom hack
- disable audio throttle and use framelimiter (25 if pal -> faster then ntsc)
- use frameskip 1

-> framelimiter + frameskip enables auto frameskip, making the game only skip frames when its slow.

if you cant play this way, your cpu probably is from last century.

im also using pal.

started in 3600-3700 somewhere.

i tried to de/activate everything, nothing worked, but old saves work.

What? Bloom hack is for TP, and doesn't really seem to do anything on Wind Waker. Not sure what you mean by cut the crap either...

Also, about AMD DCO. This is it's description.. I'm going to try this regardless here in a few but...

"The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized."

here are some screenies.

Ran dolphin 4322 x64 , without gamebooster or OCing my gpu

System
Amd x2 5400+ brisbane BE@ 2750 underclocked 2x512 L2
6gigs ddr2 5-5-5-15 @ 397 mhz
PNY gf 8600gt 512mb latest drivers
ECS mobo nforce 720a/8100
Vista 64bit
Ok underclocked the cpu majorly and ran a few tests

AMD x2 5400 @ 2.0ghz
ram underclocked to 200mhz 5-5-5-15

I get 20 fps lowest was 17.5ish

I also decided to do a bad OC and it gave me crappy fps. Is your OC stable? maybe back it off 100mhz and try to run dolphin or maybe back off your ram timings. Seems everyone says OC your pc BUT maybe dolphin on a OCed pc might give bad results even if prime95 stable? Just my thoughts.

Your machine @ 2.7 should stomp my amd x2 @ 2ghz, I have a stock 3800+ /w ati radeon 2600 pro give me a minute and will test ww on it over my network.
ok tested WW with a 3800+ stock 21ish fps see last pic also everything was ran over my network nothing installed on the system
System
Amd x2 3800+ windsor @ stock 2ghz, 2x512 L2 cache
4 gigs ddr2 crucial 400mhz(800mhz eff.) 6-6-6-18
Ati radeon 2600 pro stock CCC 9.9
Gigabyte mobo nforce 6100 chipset
vista 64bit business (fresh install)

I'm playing WW at nearly or 100% at all times....

I'm on a laptop with:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9000 @ 2.00 ghz
4 gb ram
ati 3650 HD gfx card
vista x64

just using the d3d plugin and messing a bit with the settings, and btw resolution makes minimal impact for d3d speed. i play on 1600 x 900

Squished quote to save space.

--------------

Well, when i first overclock to 2.7GHz I let Orthos run for about 24 hours without any errors, so i figure it's stable? The AMD Dual Core optimizer doesn't seem to like Win7 RTM (doesnt load), so I can't test that out, but I can try dropping my CPU a bit. Not sure that it will affect anything..

I can drop my ram timings though. I do have those set custom (which are probably cutting it close to unstable lol ^^; ).

My GFX Card is only 320MB though, but this shouldn't affect it since Dolphin is more CPU reliant?

I just don't get why I can play new games, NFS:Shift for example that was just released the other week, on max settings at 1280x1024 (minus shadows cause of a bug in the game ~.~ ...), why I can't play Zelda WW on dolphin at 640x480. lol.

I might try installing Vista after I set my settings to yours (thanks for Screenies btw) and mess with my CPU and RAM a bit. Only other thing I can think of is maybe things like the L2 Cache? 3800+ only has 1x 512KB L2. Atleast mine does anyways. It's um, Manchester (toledo-512) core I think.

If all else fails, I'll kick it a bit I guess. Always seems to work with cars >_>

Again thanks for testing some stuff for me Smile
