Hello there, i have a slight problem with Windwaker( PAL and NTSC version gives same result)
First my setup:
the hardware is: Intel e6750 nvidia gtx 275 2gb ram etc (latest drivers for all hardware, directx9c (latest for xp 32bit))
Dolphin x86 32bit r3972 and 4034 (tried both 4034 gives slightly worse framerate as sl1nk3 mentioned.)
Dolphin settings:
- dual core on (have tried with off aswell)
- all advanced on
- idle skipping on
- framelimit auto (have tried everything here)
Graphic settings:
- native resolution
- use real xfb
- aniso filter 1x
- msaa off
- disable alpha pass
- efb copy to ram (crashed with all diffrent settings here but this one actually allowed me to use the pictograph even though Lenzo never accepted 2nd picture of shaking guy, but accepted the guy with the love letter on first try, have read about people having trouble with the last mission but not the 2nd one.)

The game itself is running fine the big problem is that every 10-20 minutes it just crashes randomly. Is this a common problem because i have gotten the impression its running fine with most setups that people use (they occasionally complain of bad framerate but thats not my issue here, sounds is working fine abit choppy from time to time but overall great)

I would be very thankful for any advices, and also im very thankful for such a overrall great emulator - keep up the good work.

whats the error message ?

each 10-20minutes seem a bit fast...

if its just crashing without error message, then it is not the known error.


you also can verify it easy : play with savestates each minute until it crashes.

if the game now crashes always at the same part after loading the same state (example : entering water, opening door), its the known error.

Hmm, game works a lot faster in Direct3D, so it's worth trying (I'm getting full speed almost everywhere with D3D, OGL still has slowdowns in different places

There is no standard error message(its just the regular windows this program has encountered an error etc.) but the sound starts hanging and the picture freezes it was at the same point now as yesterday(just when you go out of the forest after youve met Tetra for the first time and the scene where aryll gets kidnapped instead)

This is the info i grabbed if it says you anything

Yes now i can clearly reproduce it it crashes when i try to overwrite an old savestate etc but even when i dont try to savestate it crashes randomly, or do i just have to avoid savestating and save normally and just hope it doesnt crash too often when playing "normaly using the regular save".

Are you using a savestate from a previous version? It's well known that savestates are unstable in Wii games. If you are using savestates from old versions on new ones maybe this is causing your crashes. Try to start a game from the beginning (yes, it hurts, but it's an emulator under development) and see how far you can go.

you shouldn't use savestates at all with z:ww as the problems get saved with the savestate, thats why they occur at the same places when loading a savestate.

use memory card instead. this also has the advantage of being useable with newer/older revs without any problems.

Im using savestates from the verision i have play as in the rev i mentioned in my first post, also were still talking about Zelda wind waker. Im only using savestates because i was specificly told so by one of the posters to try to nail down the error. And yes i played the game twice from the start (Once with PAL and once with NTSC) and both give pretty much the same outcome.
It crashes randomly but crashes more often if i try to savestate.

I am kinda stuck in this game now, I just got that mirror shield which reflects light and to leave the room I have to reflect the light to a certain spot. But I can't aim at that spot with the keyboard, what shall I do? Are you all playing with a joystick/controller?

Edit: Never mind, just had to switch to first person camera while aiming with the shield Wink

how would one play these kind of games with keyboard ?

thats like driving in a car with only full throttle or brakes.
