For those annoyed with the heat effect glitch, Natural Violence told me that if you set the internal resolution to 1x and set EFB copies to RAM, then the glitch goes away and the heat effect works properly.

That doesn't work, so either 1) Natural Violence didn't tell you that and your just trying to cause him to come murder you (while I sit and laugh at your misfortune and defacement upon the internet). 2) Natural Violence was wrong (very unlikely since he wouldn't give out info like this without testing it himself). 3) Natural Violence got tired of trying to deal with your questioning so he trolled you, said this worked so you would leave him alone, and then went offline. In any case, that doesn't work. On a side not, I have confirmed that the odd character lighting on Mac OS X only occurs on recent notebooks and not on older ones, regardless of the OS version (I'm using OS X 10.8.1). From the specs I've read on these forums, it seems directly related to the NVIDIA 600 series drivers for Mac (the Retina Pro uses a 640m and has issues, and the 640 in captainreynold's computer, which I'm pretty sure is a hackintosh, has a 640). Really long load times aren't really something you can fix with this game because the fast disk access in properties has issues iirc, but the crashing you might be able to fix by going to Right-click > Properties > Patches > Check "Fix Item Hang." You will get bad audio until you turn off the patch though. Just get past whatever the problem is and then turn it off.

Quote:That doesn't work, so either Maybe you should stop trying to speak for NaturalViolence as if you know NaturalViolence so well that you can accurately gauge what happened without backtracking through the thread. Maybe you should try looking at the users post history to find the post that he's talking about and more importantly READ it before beginning wild speculation. You are right, it doesn't work. Now as for your three theories, I'll go ahead and address each of them here: 1. You can check this yourself by looking at his post history. It takes about 2 minutes. 2. NaturalViolence was wrong about something!?! Somebody sound the alarm because that never happens. Seriously though I don't test everything that everyone says. I do occasionally make mistakes and I do occasionally repeat solutions that I have heard from other users without testing them. The post the user is referring to is from quite a long time ago. 3. NaturalViolence does not troll newbies or people asking questions, ever. It's unacceptable. Only kids and basement dwellers derive pleasure from annoying people and posting "u mad?". This cancer is slowly killing all of the popular forms of discussion on the internet and I will do everything in my power to stop it from coming here. We are here to help users, not annoy them (although sometimes the two overlap when a user doesn't want to listen to us). I do post off-topic stuff a lot that ends up derailing threads and I do go on angry rants sometimes. But the purpose of those rants and off-topic posts are usually to correct something or debate something, I don't do it for the sole reason of pissing people off. If they choose to get pissed off oh well. The closest thing to trolling I can think of is some of the stuff I've done to SS, but he's an experienced person and can handle it. They're so rare that I was never able to adequately test them with different settings since sometimes you go long periods of times without getting them out of sheer luck. Users have reported that using LLE audio (probably combined with audio throttle framelimiting) fixes the issue.

Crap, dude, I didn't mean to upset you. I didn't even know there was a post history; I really didn't mean to offend you, sorry.
Looking at that post I really did screw up there I'm terribly sorry. I could delete it but that would be pointless now I would think. P.S "Crap dude" was in response to my stupidity not your response. On the other half of my comment that wasn't entirely idiotic: Quote:I've seen users with geforce 9 mobile series GPUs in their macbooks (around 2008 or 2009 if I recall) report this issue. Interesting. I guess the 500 series cards got lucky and don't have the problem (that's what I have). Quote:He's talking about the black screen crashes that happen occasionally. I do know that the issue behind the crashes in Wid Waker tend to be FPS and speed issues, so audio throttling seems like an appropriate fix. BTW, how does Audio Throttling differ from Auto FPS? Obviously one uses the audio speed to throttle and the other uses the FPS (by whether the game wants 50/60 or 25/30) but what is the difference in accuracy and general possible performance hit? I've seen DefenderX suggesting Audio but I always use Auto so I was curious.

I can guarantee you that HLE + audio throttle does not fix it. Quote:BTW, how does Audio Throttling differ from Auto FPS? VPS limiter: Limit by VPS FPS limiter: Limit by FPS Audio throttle: Limit by audio speed All three are ways to cap the max game speed. Audio throttle is technically the most accurate but it imposes a small performance hit on some games. VPS is more accurate than FPS because games maintain their VPS throughout the entire game while FPS may change at different parts of the games (for example the game world may run at 60 fps while the menus run at 30 fps).

Eh, I doubt it will dent my performance much at all I'm very happy with my PC in case you couldn't tell
Does Dolphin have a VPS limiter? Is that Auto? That makes a lot of sense. FPS limit is just the FPS... and Audio Throttle I suppose is based on DSP speed which I guess would be a constant across every game just like VPS.

It has an option called "Limit by FPS". If you check that box it limits by FPS. If you don't check that box it limits by VPS (unless you select audio throttle). Auto tries to autodetect the VPS and FPS of the game, depending on whether you checked that box or not. I have absolutely no clue about the specifics of how audio throttle works, I just have a vague idea of what it does. VPS throttling is good enough 99% of the time which is why it's the default setting.

Makes sense. This stuff can be pretty interesting . Way more interesting than the Maps we are dealing with data structures at school... But that's a topic for the random thread or something.
