No it doesn't. Both the flipper (the GC GPU) and radeon gpus were developed by the same company (ATI), but they are COMPLETELY different in every way.

Quote: is there any benefit from having a Radeon/AMD card in emulation, vs Nvidia?

No. Even IF they shared a similar architecture (they don't as explained above) the developers of dolphin would still need to use an API to use the GPUs resources. Since they don't have low level access to the gpu hardware on a pc having a similar architecture wouldn't really change much.

Quote:I would like to ask how well Wind Waker will run at maximum graphical settings with this hardware: I have an I5 760 X4 Lynnfield @2.8 GHZ (Probably overclocking later) and later getting an AMD 5970 2 gig (They we're on massive sale, but I have to wait to get it :\ ) And I have 3 gigs of RAM @1333Mhz, 3 1 gig chips.

It should run fine.

I assume you mean SSAA since you didn't say what type of AA. In that case the answer would be no.
First of all 9xSSAA is already way to demanding for most gpus for any internal resolution above native.
Second of all 18 is not a perfect square. So 18x SSAA would be stupid to implement because the x and y scales would have to be different.
Third of all it wouldn't make ANY noticeable difference to image quality over 9xSSAA, thus making it completely pointless.

Ah, thank you. I was guessing it was Radeon architecture as my Gamecube has a nice "Radeon" sticker on it Tongue. But I know the technicalities and in-depth of it all isn't egsactly what the surface tells.

I hope to also run Skyward Sword, too. And from looking at other threads, my hardware should be fine with it. As my CPU doesn't go too high right now since my current GPU is bottlenecking my system heavily.

I was joking about the 18x AA. The only option that is directly for AA is the.. Anti-Aliasing option under "Enhancements" so I was basing it off of that, although I do know Internal Resolution helps with it too.

Thanks.

Uhm, actually they haven't been developed by the same company. As far as I know, Flipper was developed by another company which was bought by ATI shortly before the whole thing got released.
If that wasn't the case, Flipper indeed would have a similar architecture to the Radeon GPUs at that time (anything else would be stupid, Wii U uses an R700 like architecture as well now). But like NV said, even that wouldn't help us emulating the thing at all. It maybe would've meant less obscure GPU features but that's all Wink

Wouldn't that mean that ATI technically released it as their product then?

Not trying to be rude, but I think talking about Wii U's specs when they aren't really finished yet is a bit... odd.

But thanks for the info. Flipper has to be the coolest name for a GPU I've seen.

I heard there was a leakage of the specs, its supposed to be more powerful than a ps3 and xbox 360 http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=16485&page=7&highlight=wii+2

Yeah, but still. Developers said it wasn't final specs yet, they're still testing what's best. They could change this and that at any given time, and they probably did since E3.

Would someone mind answering my question regarding the heat effects? Shift+S does not work...
