Next time just stick with that, since what you said after that is completely wrong. You can't compare PC games and games that are being emulated, at all. Running a PC game well does not mean that you should also run every emulated game well.

Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1)
RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333

I am using dolphin 3.0. My hardware is:
- 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM (only 3gb usable since I am on 32 bit)
- EVGA nvidia 240 GT 1GB GDDR5
- Intel Pentium D 915 (2.8 GHz dual core)

Sure, my CPU is slow, but it runs at 12 fps if I set the priority to High in task manager.
The problem is that sometimes something happens where my video card drivers stop responding. Fortunately, they recover. Unfortunately, black screen. I noticed that I could actually play the game still while this black screen is on, and one time I managed to save my game before exiting to fix the black screen. So I have to use the item hang patch, and after that, the only sounds I hear in game are footsteps. I can't stand this. Is there a way to apply the item hang patch and get working sound?

On a side note, wouldn't it be possible to work around this bug by resetting the renderer whenever a driver hang happens?

Most likely your laptop is overheating, either that or a memory leak. Check your temps. The audio issue in cutscenes is completely normal (you need to use LLE to fix it but that's too slow for your system).

No, it's a hack, you can expect those kinds of issues.

No, we have no way of detecting that or knowing what precisely went wrong. And if you feel otherwise feel free to code the solution.

For some people, like me, unchecking the "Enable DTK music"-option helped. I think that your computer should be capable of higher speeds, if you use the right configuration, my computer isn't that much better than yours and only has 1 GB of RAM and I still manage to get like 19-26 fps in outside areas and solid 30 fps in houses and caves.
Also it appears as if the "fix item hang"-patch isn't really necessary for most people with Dolphin 3.0 and can be unchecked if you have the right config.
You could try overclocking your CPU, but I don't know if that's wise, considering it's a pentium^^

You could try to get a fitting docking station, most docking stations have one or two fans on them to cool the bottom of the laptop. Also check if the air can flow out of the laptop and nothing is blocking the exit, or you could put something under your laptop, bot only in the back, so it is tilted and won't get too hot on the bottom, which is the problem with laptops overheating most of the time.

If you know what you're doing you can also open up the case a little bit, right under the keyboard, and check if there's dust on the fan.

edit: Oh, and you could try to always run your laptop in energy saving mode, so it will remain cool, but the performance of dolphin and other applications will be worse.

Open it up and use a can of dust off to blow the dust off everything.

Why? How would EFB copy to RAM eliminate desyncing? The only solutions for me are LLE or repetition.
