In config don't touch anything, in graphics adjust Internal Resolution and Anti-Aliasing to your liking and whatever's playable. In DSP disable Audio Throttle and if you know how use LLE.

Hello again

I love to play this game in stereoscopic 3D, apart from a few rare bugs (heat effect and an issue with the depth of the stars in the night sky) the game looks absolutely gorgeous.
I decided to record a video and upload it to Youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgBsxDj8Ciw

Seeing how this one turns out, I wish Nintendo made the Zelda OOT remake for the Wii, I'd really love to play OOT in 3D it on the big 3DTV, not just the tiny 3DS screen.

Hello all of you (browsing this thread, looking at this particular answer).
I have a problem with Wind Waker, slowdowns Sad It's a weird one (for me atleast, and haven't been able to find anyone with this exact problem either... won't deny that I could be the one to blame for that though.

It should be noted, roughly a year ago I played Wind Waker up to some Deku Forest part, but because I f'cked it up with the save states (don't know how though, just did), I abandoned it for the time being, even though I loved it. The game went super smooth on my laptop, 30'ish fps even in dungeons and whilst sailing. That was on Dolphin 2.0 FYI.
I had it on maximum resolution, fullscreen (don't really know if that makes a difference though) with atleast 16x anistropic, and some degree anti-alias, 4x I think (tried with 16x, it worked out, but not near as steady as 4x).

Now I've decided to return to it (and yes, I use 3.0 now), but for some reason, I'm having these weird slowdowns, which for the most part jumps in in cutscenes, and stays when the gameplay is resumed.
I go from 30'ish to 15-18'ish, sometimes worse.
A perfect example of this would be on Windmill Island (where you have to get the sail for the funky, talking boat). I load my save, and everything is smoooooooth. I talk to some NPCs, jump around etc. Then I talk to this pig guy, who wants me to fetch his piggy.
I accept, a miniscule cutscene ensues (he blows his friggen' whistle in a 3 second clip, for christs sake), and the I'm down to 16-18 fps. What is up with that?

It's happened on a on&off basis up to this point, and I imagine that it's gonna continue.
When I restart the emulator after a slowdown has occurred, most of times the slowdown is still there (I can see it as soon as the menu (with the floating boat), where I get a 25'ish FPS instead of the 30'ish. Very weird thing, sometimes when I've saved and shutdown as a result of slowdown. I instantly close the emulator down and start it up again, still slowdown.
Then, I deliberately wait a while 3-4 minutes, and I start it up again. No slowdown, working fine untill some cutscene comes in, and PAW!
What makes this weirder, is that this doesn't work all the time. Sometimes, jerking around in the graphics does something too, but not always. I've been thinking it's my computer, that may've put on some kilos, so I tidied up (disc fragmentation, deleting unnecessary things in [C:] and [D:] etc).

It's really bugging me tbh, especially since it seems so uncalled for. Even though it's a laptop, it's quite a powerful one (gets pretty hot too, nothing that has ever caused me problems before though). I'm trying to post my specs, but I'm not to steady with your pic system Wink http://www.notebookcheck.net/review-msi-gx640-i5447lw7p-notebook.30776.0.html , here's a link through to a pretty reliable site.
I've been thinking it might be CPU that isn't strong enough, but how the heck does a simple cutscene make my whole game slowdown, when I could play it at 30 fps before the cutscene, not to mention my fluid experience with the game, last time I tried (albeit on 2.0... I've noted).
Gonna' try to post pictures of my current graphics setting and config (should be noted, I've never changed my config, I gathered I used what everybody else used)], which was the one I had during the little "Fetch-My-Pig-But-In-Slow-Mo" incident (damned islanders!).

(it seems the miniature will not show, but you can still click it for a the big picture... harhar, big picture Tongue

... I know it's maybe too big a wall to give you, but I just wanted to detail my situation for you properly. I hope you will take the time to at least respond to me, even if it's only to shout in despair "THIS IS NEW, DUNNO WHAT TO DO Sad"... Now I'm rambling, better tie a knot on this one.
And here's to this not being a widely known problem with a likewise widely known solution, eh? Rolleyes

UPDATE: Verdammt mein Leben, this is bugging me to bits! I just started out again from Windmill Island, and did the "fetch-this-pig" assignment again. This time though, there was no slowdown after the cutscene... which is a phenomenon I've observed several times, sometimes the cutscene slows it down, sometimes it doesn't. Mostly it does though... I think it may be connected to how long I've played (which is mostly about 5-10 minutes).
UPDATE2: Yet again, this bugs me. After what, about 3-4 minutes of walking around on the island, I engage in conversation with some NPC (2nd time with this NPC actually), the FPS drops to 18-20.

The heat from your laptop is not letting the core boost the Ghz as much as it should. Open the turbo-boost monitor or download it at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19105 and tell us how fast your CPU gets while playing, especially during slowdowns (and fullspeed parts too). It should hold at around 2.4-2.5 GHz while your playing. If it drop lower than that your laptop is getting too hot.

It seems you are right. My processing power went from 2.5 GHz to absolute bottom (unspecified number, can't see it on the monitor for some reason, but if were to give a shot I'd say 2.27'ish... cause that's the only number I see).
My ATI Catalyst monitors that my videocard (or something else to do with the videocard), got up to 91 degrees.

Hot damn, I've got a problem!

What kind of surface are you playing on? (It better not be a bed)

Nay, for goodness sake.
I play on my desktop table made of solid wood (well... it's not hollow). I do have a thin plastic-y sheet (globus), but I really don't that's the problem (although I'll test it for sure).
Most importantly though, I did think it was hot, so I put a book under each corner of the laptop, so it's raised about 1,2 centimeters (roughly half an inch) up.

I'm gonna try removing that plastic "sheet" tommorow (it's 3:30 am where I'm from). Could it be that plastic can store less heat than wood, and thus repel heat up on the laptop again?
I don't know, but I'll find out!
'Till next time, helpful dude!
