I've tried about 15 different revisions, two versions of the game, and about six computers, but i still cant launch the game. It shows the nintendo logo, the dolby logo, then the FPS drops to 0 and nothing happens.
My specs:
windows 7 64-bit
intel i5 2.3ghz
NVIDIA Geforce GT 520M
4gb RAM
I've used everything from dolphin 137 to the aboslute newest.
I've tweaked every setting and like i said, on six different computers i have the same problem every time.
Help?
Emmett

Maybe a bad dump. Did you try Dolphin 3.0?

Sounds like a bad dump. What is the size of the ISOs? How did you get the ISOs? Did you scrub them?

Can you specify please? Gamecube discs have a very specific size.

And yea, you haven't scrubbed any discs. Scrubbing is an involved task, if you had done it, you would very much remember it.

Forgot to ask this earlier: You said two different versions of the game, but "version" is kinda vague. Do you meant two different discs right?

yeah, two separate discs. the files are different sizes though, i just realised. one is 1,425,760kb, and the other is 979,288kb. the smaller one is a PAL version, if that makes a difference.

1,425,760KB is the precise size of a gamecube disc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_optical_disc

So the first disc is at the right size, the second one is not. It's rather curious that you have a disc that isn't the normal size, as all gamecube discs are precisely 1,425,760KB in size. The only way for them not to be that size is to alter them, usually by scrubbing them to reduce their size. But you have never scrubbed before.

And why do you have two copies of the game?

How did you take it off the disk? If there was an error during the dumping process, the software should have told you so.

EDIT: Well, as much as I would like to dance around for the rest of the day, I can't stay on here forever. So, let's cut the crap. Your ISOs are bad, because you downloaded them from an unreliable source. I figured it out the instant you said you had two copies of the game: No one buys a game twice. I just wanted to confirm as much as I could before I called you on it. Let's go over the evidence.

1. You have two copies of the same game. One from a "friend". Yea, sure. It's very convenient that your friend had a copy for another region. I guess he happens to go around the world alot? If your "friend" exists, he downloaded the disc off a torrent. But why the Pal version? Most people that download the game download the the NTSC-U version, and only play pal when they have a genuine disc, or there is a problem with the NTSC-U version. So unless your friend happens to live in europe, he should have gotten a USA ISO. Right? No, I think your friend doesn't exist. It is far more plausible to me that when the first version (NTSC) you downloaded was broken, you just downloaded a different version (PAL) hoping it would work. Simple. And just FYI, getting an ISO from a friend is still technically filesharing.
2. You know absolutely nothing about ripping, scrubbing, or any other of these processes. And you have avoided answering the question of where the discs come from on my occasions. Rippers give a warning message when a rip has failed. You'd know it was bad. Then you would try it out, it not work, and you'd come onto the forum asking "how do I rip this". Not ask about how the game is broken. Furthermore, the #1 cause of bad rips is damaged discs, and if damaged disc is even the least bit playable, you can usually make it rip. If it was damaged so badly it wouldn't rip, you wouldn't be able to play it on your gamecube or wii. Again, you'd know it.
3. All other problems have been eliminated already, via process of elimination. You did a good job narrowing it down. NaturalViolence went over the settings with you, no problem there. You have tested "everything from dolphin 137 to the aboslute newest." And you tested on 6 different computers. All problems with dolphin are out, and all problems with hardware and software on the PC are out. All that's left is the ISOs. And not once have you asked that maybe you ripped it poorly, or describe the process of how you ripped it several times and kept getting errors. Or even how you ripped it a second time hoping you would fix it. Nope. You keep saying dolphin is at fault, and your ISOs are fine. Dolphin is working just fine, the ISOs you have are bogus. And the only way for you to have a broken ISO without knowing it, not once but twice, is for you to have downloaded them from an unreliable source.

So yea, I think you pirated. I'll give you one thing, most people that pirate and ask for help here just go "I downloaded such and such and it's not working". At least you were smart enough to hide it. Yet, you weren't smart enough to realize you already had all the information you needed: you eliminated everything but the ISO already. If you had ripped the game, by this point you would be like "yea the rip is bad" and redoing the rip, and asking on the forums here for ripping help. Instead you do this song and dance, repeating several times over several months the same issues. The ISOs you downloaded are bogus, and the reason you don't know and thought dolphin was at fault is because you've never played them on a gamecube or wii, and you know absolutely nothing about how ripping works. You just figured, hey Windwaker! *Download*. Why isn't it working? *goes to forums.* And there you have it.

The good news is, all you have to do is rip a copy of the game from a disc that you own, and you'll be just fine. You have your solution.

And yea, I know about that new laptop. Broke you are not.
