Hello kind sirs (and ladies, of course)! Playing wind waker on the newest 7596 64bit for Windows 7 revision, I encountered the following problem:
At the end of dragon roost cavern, after defeating boss 1 (the lava monster), i get a grey screen after stepping into the portal, which is the only exit.

I've read in the wiki that grey screens are a common problem and the "fix item hang" patch can fix it, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me. I get a grey screen whether it is on or off. Or am I doing it wrong? I also tried it in OpenGL and DX11 mode but that makes no difference. Could it be that I have to start again before defeating the boss (I saved the game afterwards)? So that maybe the game is not able to load the next scene when I start from this savegame, which I saved after defeating the boss?

Has this been resolved already, or does anyone have any other suggestions? Any suggestions at all are very welcome, as I have no idea about all those settings in the dolphin graphics and audio menu.
There are so many graphic and audio options, I might have to go through them one by one.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but the thread is just too big to go through it entirely. I googled and searched here but except from the fix item hang I found nothing that addresses this specific problem. I would be very glad if you could help me here... I am already hooked to the game!

Here are some other informations that you might need:
My PC:
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3, P35 (dual PC2-6400U DDR2)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300, 4x 2.50GHz, 333MHz FSB, 2x 3MB, BOX
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850, 512MB GDDR3, 2x DVI, TV-out, PCIe
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DIMM Kit 4GB PC2-6400U CL5-5-5-18 (DDR2-800)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Thank you and regards,
Harro Schwarzbart

if you maked a savestate within the greyscreen...
then loading the savestate just loads the greyscreen
(use the original save option from zelda)

you need to defeat the boss again and try the fix item hang
EDIT by neobrain: that pic was kinda annoying..
EDIT by dannzen: don't fuck with my sig Dodgy

Sorry, I may not have phrased it correctly. I have two savegames right before the greyscreen. One is when the boss explodes, the other one is after I got the heart container. The greyscreen appears in both of them when I enter the warp, the fix item hang option does not help.

Thanks for your answer!

yep, that is very annoying, i had like 10 black-screens during playing

i had to try several times, sometimes even 5 times, doing a lot of quick saves, reloading, fix item hang, etc, fighting the same boss over and over,

What video card can run WW at full speed (preferably at 480p, but will accept anything up to 1080p) and meets the following requirements:
Less than $100
Uses PCI-E
Has at least 256 MB of RAM
Compatible with WinXP SP3
Has VGA output, with DVI and HDMI preferred but not needed
Preferably available at a brick-and mortar store, NOT online

VPS is usually 45, and the title screen and many indoor areas run at full speed. Its the outdoor areas that slow my comp down.
OS: Windows 8.1 x64
CPU: Intel Core i7 4700MQ

What resolution (native?), do you want AA, and can your cpu handle it? If you can test right now, make sure your VPS is over 30 so that your current bottleneck is the GPU not the CPU.

How do you reach the end of Dragon Roost Cavern? It's unplayable for me, due to Fire effect bug Big Grin

I can give you a save or savestate, if you'd like.
