The only difference is that Dolphin uses a tiny bit more of your CPU. You're not going to notice anything. (There is an additional difference for Wii games, though.)

Compressing the game to GCZ isn't a proper fix for the bug, but it does make sense that it acts as a workaround that lets you play the game normally, so go for it!

Why is that?

The bug occurs when (I assume) data is being read in some certain pattern or from a specific place. GCZ moves all the data around a bit in the file, so the rare cases that trigger the bug will be different. If you want more details about the issue, there's this: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/8930#note-17

So the bug will happen anyway, just on a different part of the game???

There is a risk that the bug will happen somewhere, but keep in mind that there are lots of games that have not been reported to be affected by this bug at all. Statistically, GCZ Wind Waker is likely to also not be affected.

I believe this is the right place to ask since there's talk about Wind Waker AR codes in ratio:

In PAL vs used to having NTSC-US I lost the following codes:
Hold A to Swim Fast
Run/Swim/Crawl Fast Hold A
Jesus Mode aka Walk on Water
Jump to a ledge at any height
Roll further
Area Resetter
Advance Time (Press R, Glitchy)
Extra Deku Leaf Controls
Hookshot head/beam sword/energy sword
Big Maker
hurricane spin lasts until you press b
puff deku leaf to go up
rave islands toggle
rapid fire magic arrows

Primarily all to mess around when I feel like it, I lost but I gained a lot more by using the PAL version and Chaos Edition, however, any suggestions on how to find codes like this myself as they probably won't be easily requested to others. I'm not too good with finding codes myself, I've done it with N64, but I struggle with Dolphin/GC. Looked up videos and all still can't seem to figure out how to find these for PAL ID:102 and GZLP01.

Wind Waker (uncompressed) is working fine now on Windows 10 x64. Tested on 4.0-8034. It was probably fixed since 4.0-8032. Anyway, good job and kudos to dolphin developers.

Actually 4.0-8026 fixed it for Windows 8, 8.1 and 10. Windows 7 has an old version of a dll and that had to be worked around.
