Hello, Forum.

I have just started playing [GC] "Tales of Symphonia" [NTSC] - however, as soon as I finish the second mandatory battle (The ghost and the zombie at the town exit) it crashes.
I beat the ghost and zombie, I get to the victory screen, and then I press A to exit the victory screen; but when the screen fades from black to the next sequence, it crashes; all I see is a slightly darkened (due to unfinished fading) screen with Lloyd, Collete and Genis standing in front of the skull that represents the monsters, a tiny bit of sound repeats itself over and over again like "h-h-h-h-h-h!", and the controls, and the screen evidently, are frozen.

I am using the latest 32-bit Dolphin Emulator, I followed the instructions of the setup tutorial on the home page, and I am using an HP Pavillion dv6700 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, specs.: AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz, 3,00 GB RAM, 32-bit Operative System.

How do I solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.

PS: It seems to be a little slow during sequences with monsters on the field, and especially slow during special cutscenes such as the opening and the introducing monologue. During the monster sequences it run with 98% speed, inhibiting some of the background music already at that point, and during the special cutscenes it runs with 85% speed. Is there any way to take it up to 100%?

BUMP.

I really need your help here. The game i no fun, when you can only get as far as the second battle of hundreds, maybe thousands, of battles.

I think you're lucky to be getting the speeds you're getting on a Notebook. I don't think there's much that can be done aside from the obvious of lowering your resolution and disabling some of the extra effects like AA etc, which I'm sure you've done already.

I have the NTSC version and I just tried it then without any crashes so the problem is on your end somewhere. First, have you tried all the graphics plugins and recompiler settings?

I am currently using "JIT recompiler (recommended)" and "Dolphin Direct3D9" - if it worked for you, which ones are you using?

I tested it with that combination just then and I passed it no issues.

Next: In your graphics settings is 'Accurate Texture Cache' enabled and set to Normal or Fast? On Safe it is known to cause crashes.

Also its about time you updated to the latest revision.

It was not enabled before. I have now enabled it and tried testing the issue with Normal and Fast - however it crashed in both cases.

I am using the Dolphin r6880 - is that not one of the newest revisions? Could it be that the revision that I am using cannot run it properly even with the appropriate settings? Which revision are you using and running it so succesfully with?
