Try with OpenGL. There's an extra bug in D3D since the bounding box merge causing GPU desyncs.

Tested with OGL and it still crashes! I'll have to play this section on the gamecube then as a last resort.

I tested with an old dolphin ishiiruka build 1f24053 that I had lying around and it got passed that area so some commit must've screwed things up

Can you provide a savefile before the crash? I'd rather try to fix it before we lose an easy access to teh crash.

I got the save file and can't reproduce the crash. I don't know how else to help you, but I'll definitely try.
Thanks JMC47! I recorded the crash taking place on latest revision at the time (4.0-5075) hopefully this helps.
