Hello, Shonumi ! I apologize, you are quite right, I was out of my way. I removed that part.

Now, my problem.
I tried an experimental build. But, this is CRAZY,
- I configured the exp build Dolphin to use my current .raw save file (I made surer than sure it was the proper file)
- On load of Tales Of Symphonia CD1, after the intro, I choose to Load a game... and from there, only the first 8 saved games are proposed. Not the following games.
- And yet, when I go to Tools > the GC memory card manager, if I click to open my .raw save file, there are pages after pages of saved games, the last of which, I think #46, is minutes before the black screen of death after Iselia ranch. So, the saves DO exist, but Dolphin only accepts to see the eight first ones when running, apparently O_o

EDIT : I'm testing stuff right now about it ^^

OK, I'm trying to test it out cleanly, from a blank state, or as close to it as possible.

The save file is : http://www.mediafire.com/?tq71e9n9vs3j9m7

1 - in "working till Iselia Dolphin", and in "test build Dolphin" I deleted the /user/gc/*.raw files, to make sure to start with a brand new save file
2 - Those two error messages (image 1, image 2) confirm Dolphin created a new save file.
3 - I confirmed this was a blank save file by starting Tales of Symphonia CD1, and asking "Load" : no saved games were found
4 - so now, I loaded the save state done when my team was on the Iselia Ranch save point, and saved the game in there. (Screenshot)
5 - I copied the saved game file MemoryCardA.EUR.raw, as well as the SRAM.raw (just in case) to the /User/GC folder of the test build Dolphin
6 - I configured the test build Dolphin to use that memory card file. Tools > Dolphin config > GameCube > Slot A > MemoryCardA.EUR.raw
7 - I checked the save game within the save file existed with that Dolphin's memory card manager (screenshot)
8 - i start Tales Of Symphonia (screenshot) ... And no saved game is found (screenshot) Sad
Same thing if I configure the test build to use the .raw save file of the stable version of Dolphin.

I'm out of ideas. Please, could you help ? Thank you so much ! Smile

Thanks for the detailed explanations Oliver, it's really appreciated!

I've fixed your save file for you and I've also made a save on the first checkpoint in the 2nd CD which is also in the archive. Import only one of them into your memory card.

Thank you VERY MUCH for your help, really ! It worked ! Big Grin I could test it a pair of hours ago, and after an anguished moment (will the memory card be recognized, pleaaaaase), it did the job. YAY ! ^______^

Seriously, I'd have been devasted if all my gaming time was lost, thank you really so much Smile

I'm curious, what did you to, to "unblock" the situation in that game ? I imagine the information could be interesting to other people coming from web searches... Simply testing with a more up-to-date version of Dolphin ? More complicated parameters ?

I was pretty sure I had written how to do it somewhere on the forums, but I can't find it, so I've decided to write a how-to on my site.

the game is freezing in meltokio during the conversation outside the church with presea. again ive tried tweaking settings but nothing seems to work. im using version 3.5-1565

Have you tried using Single Core mode, OpenAL and DSP LLE recompiler? If so, upload your save game to media fire and link it here. Then tell us how to reproduce the freeze that you can't get past.

well i went through and one by one adjusted different settings, not sure what i did but its working now. it might have been my backend or something but thanks for the speedy replies. you guys are great.

Hey guys, quick question, but when you use the custom projection hack, does the title menu screen disappear (but everything is still select able)? I have tryed all sorts of different settings for this while using the hack, but it seems to kill the title menu screen no matter what I do (and across several 3.5 revisions and 3.0 revisions). I can get pics, but Im not sure how I would upload them lol.

I know I posted earlier that I didn't have any problems, but I retract that statement; I wrote it too soon. Yes, the title screen menu does disappear, but this is really only a concern if you actually need to use the title screen (start a new game, etc). I don't use save states, so I always boot into the game normally. As soon as the title screen's music starts playing, I just keep hitting A. It should be set to Continue automatically, so I hardly ever miss the title screen menu. It's probably not something that can be fixed (aside from, you know, not using a hack :p) and it's very minor in my opinion. Though the Projection Hack does mess with other elements in the game, slightly (I've only come across a couple, minor issues as well).
