Could you share your temperatures when you're getting those slowdowns?

Post your settings too.
It's about 30~40Celsius or lower.
I'm using OpenGL config attached, nothing checked on Graphics > Advanced tab.
Using DSP LLE with "LLE on Thread" checked.

Some speed up especially in menus with external frame buffer set to virtual (opposed to disabled).

Was this known?

I have one question,I'm sorry if it's going to sound dumb but I just wanted to ask you guys about custom projection hack in ToS,how do you use it? I mean I right click/Properties/then enable custom projection hack/ToS. It goes back to custom but the values are the same. Do I need to enable Zfar/Znear? When I enable one of it sometimes the game misses text,in battle or regular conversation. Or does enabling the hack just need to be checked and not those values, thank you.

Just choose one hack (or enter values) and click "OK". And check Custom Projection Hack of course

Using 3.5, Im getting audio stutters that happen starting in the opening menu when Lloyd jumps up by that giant skeleton creature.

It happens during gameplay as well. LLE is just terrible compared to HLE but HLE is still giving me slight audio issues. Also on the world map between the temple and the starting town the game speeds up in both gameplay and audio. Lloyd runs around like a maniac as do the monsters, and the music is really fast paced.

Nothing you can do about that, the intro's never been perfect, even with LLE audio. Don't worry about that. Now for your audio stuttering in the main game, try using a version from 3.5-77, when the new-ax-hle branch was merged. The newest revisions work pretty well on HLE. If you still get issues, post your Dolphin settings so we can take a look.

I also get slowdown during the gameplay for no apparent reason. One example just now was entering the village after leaving with the map and items given by Dirk.

It slowed down pretty nasty, I activated a skit, and it was fine right after.

As far as what version of Dolphin. I am using the one at the top 3.5 from 1 month ago.

Should I try 3.5 395?

Edit - So I can't load save states.... on a different revision?

Nope. Dolphin's pretty sensitive about what info goes into a save state, so they're often incompatible from one revision to the next. It's advisable to save via the emulated memory card if you're going to use multiple revisions. You can create an in-game save from your save state; just go to a save point and save like you would on a real GC console. If it complains about having a corrupted card, you can format it (back up the actual MemoryCardA/MemoryCardB file in your GC folder if you have saved game data on the emulated memory card). You might need to delete the MemoryCardA/MemoryCardB file in order for that to work, since Dolphin will create a new, clean one for you.

3.5 did not have the merge from new-ax-hle. Versions from 3.5-77 and after do. Audio on HLE has improved significantly to the point where LLE audio is unnecessary anymore. This may help with your slowdowns since HLE audio is much less demanding than LLE.

I went ahead and downloaded 395. Then I just went to the Memory card folder and copied all contents and pasted into the new folder. Worked like a champ.

Is it a good idea to have multiple revisions of the software or is it generally ok to use the latest for awhile?

That being said, Symphonia is running much better. I used the custom projection hack last night and it looked great. However I noticed I played for awhile this morning and noticed the double image. I checked it and it saved the option to use the custom projection hack but didn't save the option for Tales of Symphonia custom config.

Lots of people use different revisions all the time. I've got at least a dozen (most aren't used, but I keep them for testing issues). For Linux and OS X users, all config files are kept in the same location, so all I have to do is compile and run the executable, and Dolphin knows where to look, so I can easily switch between revisions just by running different executables. It's a bit harder to do something similar on Windows; I'd just stick to have different Dolphin folders. It's your choice though; use the revision you feel is best for the experience you want.

Are you talking about where it says "[Custom]" where it should say "Tales of Symphonia GC"? That's a known bug atm, but as long as the values from the preset match (zNear-0.5, zFar-1) then the Projection Hack should be fine. Just a guess, but you may need to turn it off, close the Properties windows, then turn it back on again if it doesn't appear the Projection Hack is working when you initially start up your game.
