[GC] Superman : Shadow of Apokolips

Hi there. I'm trying to play Superman SoA, USA version. The game works perfectly, except that at some random point during the first mission (the first one of all, when you start by recuing a bus from falling off a bridge, and then you chase a helicopter), video freezes. You can still hear the sound and music for a few seconds, and then only the ambience sound. Just the video freezes, not the emulator, I can close the emulator normally. I'm using internal resolution at 2.5x, 8 samples (quality level 32) of antialising in DirectX 11, and the same resolution and 4xMSAA in OpenGL, and 16x of anisotropic filtering in both backends. After that, well, I tried almost every hack turn on alone, all hacks on, all hacks off, with stereocopic 3D, without stereoscopic 3D, no other enhancements other than raising the resolution and some antialising... I even tried the accuracy of the texture cache at its safest, with the same result. Now that I think about it, the only thing I haven't tried was enabling an External Frame Buffer. I'm a bit afraid of trying the External Frame Buffer, because I really don't understand what it does, and the very few times I tried it during my time of using the emulator, it made the game work bad. But that was a very long time ago. If by using it the problem can be solved, please tell me how to use it. I'm using Dolphin 4.0-7384. In OpenGL, Superman's hair look properly, but the game looks a little darker. In DirectX11, the game looks brightier, but Superman's hair is sort of purple.
So, can anyone think of how to solve the freezing problem? Other than that, in OpenGL, the game works perfectly (the increase of darkness in it is barely noticeable). Thanks in advance!!

Formatted and reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit. Tried version 7435, it freezed at the loading screen after the first mission. Any ideas? I'll try anything.

When I tried this game, I was using windows 10, and it was during a time that windows downloaded an update that made the sound of a graphic engine work wrongly. I believe the update, in windows 10, was KB3081438. But the most curious thing was that after I formatted and reinstalled windows 7 and fully updated it, the problem with this engine appeared again. This problem wasn't present in windows 7, a few days before I updated to windows 10. But it is now. Could the problem be a windows 7 update too? Although I didn't find an update named exactly the same, I suppose it could come with a different name in windows 7. I make all this reference because I red delroth explanation about how the game syncs with audio. I didn't understandit completely, but it makes me wonder that if a windows update has changed something in windows's audio, it could harm the emulator. Would this assumption be correct?

It is possible that a Windows update to the audio drivers affected this game, but it is more likely that it was a fluke that you got past this bit in the first place.

Oh. So the black bar in the wiki means that the game doesn't work at all, with the current versions of dolphin; not that it wasn't tested, ¿correct? I thought, since I didn't see any entry in the Testing tab, that it wasn't tested. Am I correct?

Try uncheck "speed up disc transfer rate" at the game properties and see if the freezing is fixed.

But that tab is one I rarely have in mind, so after it froze having unchecked "speed up disc transfer rate", I also tried unchecking "Skip DCBZ clearing" in hopes of having the most compatibility. But it still froze. Any more ideas? Would the options of "Deterministic dual core" be of any help? If they would, how do I use it?

Deterministic dual core set to "fake-completion" helped me with the problematic cutscenes on Skies of Arcadia. "Skip EFB Access from CPU" checked also helped in some parts of that game. But i wasn't trying to solve a freeze problem, but improving the framerate. I actually had a problem with freezing with SOA, but i fixed it with the very tip i wrote earlier. Try setting IR to 2x or 3x. I read somewhere that some games may have a few issues with unusual IR, like 1.5x or 2.5x. Search the manufactures of your VGA and sound card and try to download their drivers and install them over whatever drivers windows had installed on your machine. Just make sure to not install the wrong driver. You have to know the exactly model of your hardware and don't use google to find these drivers on the internet. Go straight to the official website of the manufacture (AMD, NVIDIA, REALTEK, etc) 08-28-2015, 12:50 AM
