I'm running Dolphin 2.0 and I cannot get full speed. My fps lingers below 30 and the highest I've seen the speed go up is 60%.

I am running on OpenGL. But as I was reading around, I found others had a Direct3D option, but I don't have that. All I have is the OpenGL and the Software Renderer, which performs worse. Would Direct3D give me better performance? And how do it get it as one of the graphics plugins?

Other than the graphics plugin, is there any way to improve the performance of SSBM?
My computer specs aren't that great, but from reading around I had the impression that it should be able to 100%, no?

Laptop specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 (2.1 GHz)
3 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200

Thanks, updated it did work so now I can use D3D as my graphics plugin. Now my speed has gone up to 80%, which fluctuates between different levels.

I don't suppose that there is anything I can do that will bring it up to 100% on every level?

I am using EFB Copy to Texture, Enable Dual Core (speedup), and Lock threads to cores.

First time Dolphin user; I managed to get Melee up and running, and I'm quite pleased at the performance. I can run 60 FPS, which is cause for great happiness.

Question though: I've noticed that the framerate can drop sometimes--it's not quite 100% consistent at 60 FPS. Is there something that I can tweak in the settings to increase the chance of better FPS consistency, or is that something that's just inherent with Dolphin itself and unavoidable?

I'm using D3D plugin, with EFB Copy to Texture, Enable Dual Core, and Lock threads to core all checked, and my computer should be able to handle it:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
AMD Athlon II x4 965 BE 3.4 Ghz
8 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5830

Lock thread to core sometimes gives me a performance hit. Try unchecking that.

Hrm. . .I'm still getting framerate drops. The thing is, the framerate counter still lists it as 60 FPS, but the video stutters slightly, and there's some lag involved with move inputs, so there must be some kind of framerate inconsistency involved. Is anyone else suffering from this problem?

Took screenshots of the DX9 settings and the General Config screen. . .hope that helps. :/

The thing is, it seems like Vs. Mode seems to have more framerate stability than Training. . .but not by much. Or maybe I'm just imagining it. Not entirely sure what causes it too; it seems to crop up randomly.
