I've been having an issue with Melee where I'll get an error message on screen saying "Executable memory ended up above 2GB." When this occurs, gameplay is typically slowed way down, and the audio crackles badly. Sometimes it lasts a few seconds, sometimes the game is unplayable. It doesn't seem that there's any rhyme or reason to when it occurs, as I've had it happen an hour in to a session, or even only 5 minutes in.
I'm using 4.0-6811, and I've tried changing backends and using different settings (I've switched back to the default since nothing seems to have helped.), but I'm hoping someone may have had a similar issue. Note that I've played other Gamecube games on this version of Dolphin without this issue occurring. Below are screenshots of my current graphics config. My computer's specs should also be more than adequate, but for the sake of information I will list my parts as well. i5-4690k nvidia GTX760 16GB ram Also note that I basically read through this entire thread, and while my eyes are tired, I did not see anything necessarily the same as my issue. 08-07-2015, 09:06 AM
try using 4.0.2 and see if the problem is there

As an update... I switched to 4.0.2.
I immediately noticed the ram usage was wayyyyyy down upon startup, compared to the previous version of Dolphin I was using. I played through adventure mode without any graphical/auditory hangups, and proceeded to set up a 99 minute match between 4 level 9 Jigglypuff on super sudden death on Mute City. In total we're about an hour into gameplay, and, whether related or not, memory usage is still far lower than the other version of Dolphin, and I have heard nothing but crystal clear Jigglypuff deaths. In short... given how finicky the timing was with the issues I've experienced, I can't rule it out. But I feel confident stating that the problem is fixed. There has not been any slowdown with how busy this battle and map are. And since the crackly audio only occurred during a drop in framerate, I have not had any of that either. Default settings on 4.0.2. Thanks for your suggestion, NKF98 08-08-2015, 12:00 PM
hahaha 4.0.2 was released almost two years ago, nothing was fixed, only broken. try using the 5.0-rc build for testing's sake

Executable out of memory stuff is weird. I haven't been able to reproduce it, unfortunately.

When im playing in netplay and the match is about to start, the game crashes and gives me an error message starting with CPU error followed by 1000000 and then a random number.
Im on 7161 and this problem doesnt occur if im not playing in netplay. |
