Try the Code Patches forum, since it is about a fix for a code for this game (16:9 Aspect Ratio Code). Anyway, your intention is to patch (remedy) the game (or the code) in some way to allow proper 16:9 display. So it suits the Code Patches forum. You could just start a new thread for that.

How do you apply 16:9 correctly and make the game run 60 FPS in Dolphin?
I have the option set "Force 16:9" and the game plays widescreen without any codes or widescreen hack enabled. Is this normal? I read you had to enable a heat wave fix and gecko code for correct aspect ratio. I enabled the 60 FPS patch in the Gecko codes and the game is gorgeous but it slows down. It's possible my PC is not powerful enough to run it. Are there any other options I am supposed to enable? In FreeEmulator's video he mentions having to set the FPS to 120 and enabling the double video rate hack. 09-03-2016, 05:28 PM

Enabling Force 16:9 without the widescreen hack or any codes will stretch the image to 16:9, not render more of the image. In other words, everything will look too wide, but it will take up a (roughly) 16:9 area of your screen. If you're using the Gecko code that's on the wiki page, you're only supposed to enable the Gecko code, not change any speed settings (except possibly the CPU clock override). The double video rate hack doesn't even exist in standard Dolphin. FreeEmulator's video is using an older code that works differently. The game's wiki page has a region-free Gecko Code for 16:9 display for example. Nope, if your PC is not powerful enough for 60 FPS then you should stick to 30 FPS. The FPS code on the game's wiki page is your best way for having an optimized 60 FPS experience. Keep in mind, that playing the game at 30 FPS already demands much of your system, but if you throw 60 FPS against it. It does not help either that Super Mario Sunshine needs EFB Copies to Texture Only disabled. Perhaps in the future this will be fixed so that SMS runs quite a bit faster (you might even try the 60 FPS code again then!). Yeah, there was an older 60 FPS patch (not a code), that depended in Dolphin's VBeam Hack. As it was not intended that hacks relied on double VPS rates this feature was removed from Dolphin making the older 60 FPS patch unusable. Ishiiruka still supports some from of VBeam hack, which mostly likely requires you to half the speed of the audio. Again, I wouldn't not recommend this method. It is broken. You are better left of at 30 FPS in this case. Upgrade your system and try again. 09-03-2016, 05:35 PM

I don't think the vbeam speedhack itself is in Ishiiruka. Its "double video rate hack" affects the VPS without some other effects of the vbeam speedhackk. As far as I know, that option was added just for the purpose of being able to use that old 60 fps hack (which was the only one for this game at the time). 09-19-2016, 12:49 AM
Hello, periodically emulation will stop with seemingly infinite numbers of "Warning" dialogs indicating unknown instructions and invalid reads.
Using Dolphin 5.0 stable, Super Mario Sunshine NTSC (Verified proper dump - I copy my discs multiple times and ensure the SHA-1 hash matches for at least 3 copies before determining it is "good") with the Gecko 16:9 code enabled. It does not happen very often. So far it has happened three times. When pressing A at the portal to Bianca Hills and just after Mario turns into gelatin bubbles; in Bianca Hills after jumping on an enemy, and when walking around in Bianca Hills. Note: I am not able to definitively cause it to crash so I have not been able to reproduce it with ease. It just crops up every so often. First error: "IntCPU: Unknown instruction 00000000 at PC = 803ba344 last_PC = 80001f18 LR = 802fccec" Then: "IntCPU: Unknown instruction 00000000 at PC = 803ba348 last_PC = 80001f18 LR = 802fccec" And finally this one which basically loops endlessly with various addresses just after "from" (the address after "PC" remains the same). "Invalid read from 0x3f405bb8, PC = 0x803ba34c " |
