No need to thank me, I just felt like writing something. My PC is not nearly as powerful as yours, so I had to deal with low FPS and audio stutter all the time (it was just a little better in space missions. ) The Taloraan mission is the only one that played at a speed remotely close to 100% (and at full speed when facing away from the platforms.)
Try playing around with various hacks in the config menu, maybe one of them, or a combination of some of them will fix your explosion problem. Using save states can save you a lot of time here.
I'm rather convinced that it has more to do with the visual effect of the explosion, as opposed to the sound effect. I can't really replicate your problem, since with my slower PC the emulation performance is so consistently bad, that any slow-down caused by explosions is hardly noticeable.

i can confirm it still runs bad.

I now have a new wii and am enjoying RS2 again via a hdmi upscaler, managed to find one that doesn't suck and cause interlacing...while playing. most of the upscalers are cheap rubbish, also a good hdmi cable helps.

got the game backed up and running off a usb stick via home brew channel. played the trench mission several times already and the hoth level. such a good game for it's age, makes all the wii games look dated.

i suggest anyone who wishes to play this game, get a cheap wii, hook it up via hdmi for the best experience.

doesn't look like dolphin will ever run it. according to google code, no one knows how fix it, that's why it's still broken after all this time.

It'll run eventually in Dolphin. It's going to take a lot of work for very few games to be improved while slowing down the emulator.

I would pay a donation for seeing this game running. Shall we organize a donation project?

I'd certainly join the donation project.

I'd certainly join the donation project.

So how could we organise this? Is there any webpage or web service to organize this ala Kickstarter?

Thanks
Regards

I'm sure the devs would feel appreciated of the support, but I think due to legal reasons they would not be able to accept donations?

I'd love to be able to play this game too, don't get me wrong!

I honestly can't think of any valid legal reasons preventing donations. This is an open-source project after all, and emulation is a perfectly legal activity. Our biggest legal concern here is copyright violations in the form of unauthorized copying (e.g. downloading games instead of dumping them yourself), but we've actually accepted donations for Dolphin in the past (for Android hardware for Android development iirc). But this is all off-topic, so back to the thread.

I too would donate $$ to show the devs how much interest & appreciation there is! Is there someone on the development side that can point us to the best way of doing this?
