Is there a fix for the issue where corners of the level at the edge of the screen disappear? I tried the gecko code but no luck.

That looks like something a widescreen might do... although your image doesn't look like widescreen aspect ratio... still, maybe look if you got something like that enabled somewhere.

This is the one game I currently cannot get to run acceptably. What i mean by that is switching views it stutters and stalls for a second which to me is not a playable experience. I will hear comments on here that this person gets 60 frames per second and only slight stutter switching to the targeting computer. I would like to believe that, but to me its a very bad, unacceptable stutter. It drops to 11fps for a second.
I have a ryzen 7 2700, 2070 Super, 16gb 3200 ram (XMP enabled). I have spent hours trying different settings, Direct 3d 12 seems to work best, with vulkan slightly behind. I have tried various settings for the game and the emulator specifically. I am using 1080p resolution, no extra visual processing, simply anything that can speed up performance is enabled. I have turned things on and off. Yet i see online videos from 3 years ago of people playing relatively smoothly. They dont switch views though, but the odd audio skip i get when transitioning to cut scenes does not seem to occur on the youtube videos. Yes i can play mainly at 60fps, and besides the odd audio stutter during scene transitions it plays smoothly on the first level, but the drop to 11fps using the targeting computer is driving me insane. I dont know if an intel will fix this, but i would hate to shell out a bunch of money for one game. All other dolphin games on wii and cube have ran relatively well. 05-06-2020, 03:51 AM
The Widescreen patch makes the game hang on boot every time. Any workarounds?

@cynicalking: is that happening in the latest 5.0 dev build? Did you verify that your game dump is not bad (right-click on game in Dolphin's game list > Properties > Verify tab > Verify)? The code is known to cause crashing but these may help you get farther

Also, don´t pause if you don´t really have to. It is stated in this wiki page that both can make this game hang regularly. Hi! I realize that the settings for this game vary by computer but I'm curious if there are any recommended settings to make the game run smoother. I can play any other GameCube or Wii game smoothly and at 1080p but this game stutters and slows down whenever there's a lot going on the screen. It's getting on my last nerve! Funny enough, I was running into a similar situation with a game on the recently updated PS2 emulator. It was stuttering and slow for a while but after tinkering with the settings I got it working just fine! I've tinkered with the settings on Dolphin and nothing seems to work. Any advice anyone can give would be awesome. Thanks!
Oh, and does this tend to work better on Windows? I'm playing on my Mac but I'm going to try the Windows version through Parallels Desktop. 05-12-2020, 10:48 PM
Since you're on macOS, are you using the Vulkan backend or Apple's deprecated OpenGL backend?

For a long time I had the backend set to the default (OpenGL) but just yesterday I tried using Vulkan with my eGPU (AMD Radeon RX 560) as the Adapter. That didn't do anything for Rogue Squadron. I'm pretty sure my eGPU was already in use as I have "Prefer External GPU" selected for the Dolphin app. And I know that has worked because it's given me the extra boost needed to play plenty of other games flawlessly. One other thing I have been doing that seems to help a little bit (but not completely) is checking "Compile Shaders Before Starting." I saw that was recommended somewhere and gave that a shot. |
